A 7th, they need to clear space, and that gives them an extra 3 million plus to resign dubynk. - Mentalorgasm5
What's his term? I'd do it as long as we got a pick with it like you said |

Just checked, he has 1 year left on his deal. Might be a smart move to recoup the pick lost in a lehner/lack trade. |

If I was tim murray, I would be calling minny about taking Backstrom from them if they included their 3rd round pick this year. Then move pick 51 for Lehner or lack.
Get your starter, a vet back up, and it only cost moving from the 2nd to the 3rd. - Mentalorgasm5
Rather just sign Thomas Greiss/Lindback/Neuvirth/Niemi/Ramo |
|

Backstrom would be the back up. And he makes less than 4 million, and I believe he only has 1 year, possibly two years left on his contract. - Mentalorgasm5
37 years old.
Didn't play last year. Only won 5 games the year before.
History of injuries.
Nope. I'd rather overpay a forward. |

Yep, I dont hate it. As long as Minny is willing and really needs the cap space.... |

But the key is getting the 3rd round pick......
You dont get that by signing UFA's... |

BIG picture it's one year and then he is a UFA. He would be the back up goalie. Doesn't matter how old or how injuried.
We have so much space, having on for the books for 1 season doesn't do anything negative to the cap. |

Anybody see the John Scott Tweet on who he didn't like on the team? Funny dude - hubie
"Thanks to all the fans in San Jose for a good year," Scott wrote in an Instagram post. "I enjoyed my time there even though we had a tough year on the ice...... At least now I can fight some guys on the team who I didn't really like @bgoodrow @christierney71 @loganc89 @brownbeaut18 @tommywingels @hertlik48 @tikot37 ... Wow I guess I didn't like anybody. #onepunch #bodybags #multiplegamesuspension #------bettman #badteammate" |

How about not take a bad contract for a player that won't even play at all and just sign 2 of Greiss/Ramo/Lindback/Neuvirth/Niemi/Dubnyk/Hackett/Fasth and not lose any draft picks?
I am confused. |

The #avs have acquired the rights to impending free-agent Carl Soderberg.

Boston just traded the rights to Soderberg to Colorado.. Not saying Sabres will be the team to get him but it sure sounds like O'Riley is gone by weekends end. |

I tried to find him on Twitter and all I could find were some pretty funny parody accounts.

Im guessing you're not a big picture guy? I'd take lehner or jones over anyone on that list.
So it might be an option to look at where it doesn't cost you a pick. |

I find it hilarious how badly people don't want O'Riley.. If he's brought in for something like the 21st pick and one of our D prospects I'd be fine with it. I'm not thrilled with giving up either Zadorov or Pysyk (who probably wouldn't be enough anyway) But if we can get a younger D man somewhere else if it get's us a top 6 young two way winger I'll take it.
That being said I have an odd feeling he ends up in NJ or somewhere random like that. |

Some under the radar RFAs that might be worth signing to a deal that won't cost us a ton of draft picks or high ones...
Marcus Johannson
Craig Smith
Colin Wilson
Mall Calvert
Linden Vey
Vladislav Namestnikov
Jonathon Huberdeau
Some guys that could cost us a bit but could take from a cap strapped team..
Kutznetsov (ton of cap room)
Andrej Sustr
Jakob Silfverberg (actually have a ton of cap room)
Derek Stepan
Galchenyuk

it's not trading for him that worries me, it's his ridiculous contract demands. |

IF the goalie market wasn't so big id agree, but I think you can get a more useful body to play. PLus with a better goalie you can split their work load so |

It'd seem likely that they didn't just acquire Soderberg's rights to play the 4th line behind Duchene, MacKinnion, and ROR. |

Ive always liked Matt Calvert, has some scoring punch however hes not the greatest on the defensive side of the game which is why he comes cheap |

eh.. I'm sure we can work out something.. With cap rising each year and all our younger players going to be on RFA type deals for next 5 or so years I don't think it's as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. |
