Kessel is cancer (no pun) in the room and is, well, fat. Shows me he doesnt work hard. With all the young guys thats a horrible example. Toronto wouldnt want anything near that much, they are trying to get rid of his contract. 8 mill a year for him for what is it,6 ore years. OMG thats a HORRIBLE idea. So no It's not really my opinion seeing as TO wants him gone for even a decent return.

I wouldn't worry about this, if Murray gets him he'll get signed, even if nobody loves the $/ term
- mattmoulson

2 times he's done this already.

I'm not giving up anything valuable for a potential 1 year rental

You give O'reilly all the negotiation power and leverage in the world if you give up anything valuable.

Sorry I don't trust the guy and his agent.

UGH, we will sign him, easily.

Yes, it is crazy. Kessel cant be given away and Nash is 7 years older that ROR.

- Homer

I dont want him signed. He is nowhere near the worth of 7-8 million dollars he wants.

You want to give up ennis and 31 for a pending ufa, but some think it's crazy to give up ennis and picks for kessel or nash?
- Mentalorgasm5

I like Pegula's money and I hope/trust they talk to his agent before they finish the deal but yeah, Ennis and 31 for O'Reilly seems fair. You win Cups with players of O'Reilly's ilk.

sure he is, because that's what he's going to get. 8 may be a bit high, I agree with that....but 6.5-7 is fair for an elite #2 center.

You want Kessel at 8m instead??

I like Ennis, quite a bit actually....but I think that's a fair trade and I'd be pumped if we pulled that off.

Kessel's a 1st liner who's scored 30+ goals 6 times (probably 7 if there wasn't a lock out)

It's not crazy to want to give up the assets for him instead of O'Reilly. Especially since they could really use a guy at RW.

31 and Ennis for O'Reilly
21 for okposo (returning NYI their pick)
Draft Greenway at 51 or the 3rd/4th top rated goalie
Sign Paul Martin or Sekera
Sign Niemi

I don't know why all the hate for ROR, this kid is a solid player, if you want to hate him for what kind of money he will get that's fine because that will be the going rate but don't hate him for his play.

I'm not making this up when i say they cant give Kessel away. The leafs could call and say you can have Kessel and his contract for nothing, just take him and Id say no thanks, a lot of teams would.

Might he get traded, yes, there could be a sucker out there, but I really doubt it will before any thing much. ROR will get a very good return.

If I'm wrong than I'm wrong, we'll see.

We have what it would take to get ROR without giving up Ennis, that I know.

I don't mind Kessel and think his " lazy play " had some to do with how bad the Leafs were however, I don't like his contract and what's left on it.

Okay, and he is self absorbed, and narcissistic based on his contract demands, so he is a cancer.

I mean I got the same proof on O'Reilly thay you do on kessel.

So you want to trade a guy who puts in high 40 points for someone who sscores in the 50s, and wants an inflated contract? And give away a pick? Makes sense I guess.

I honestly think Kessel gets an unfair bad rap but I also honestly think there are better wing options out there via trade or UFA (at least value based UFA)

You're contradicting yourself, he can't be given away, but at the same time he might get traded?

I don't understand this board. Let's give up 31 and Ennis for a 50 point guy, rather than make a move on a player who plays a position we NEED and can net 40 goals.

O'Reilly has had 55, 64 and 55 pts in his last 3 full years in the league and I'm someone who doesn't look to stats solely as the basis as the whole worth of a player.
