20 goals and 35 assists for an $8 million player when the cap will be $80 million plus in 7 years will be a bargain...
- Stripes77

First time I heard kessel's contract a "bargain" wow. Toronto will get a haul for him with his bargain contract

It will? a good chunk of your cap dedicated to a guy not on your first line?

Moulsons contract isn't good at 5 million. Everyone knows that. We had to overpay to hit floor. Your just proving my point. 8 million is even worse

I can't believe they are giving up 21, I bet/hope they are giving up the two #2's and a prospect now.
- GilPerreault11

I doubt they give up 21. I'm thinking 31 and 51 or 31 and a future pick

You get 5 years of scoring in Kessel's prime. You hope he is still productive after those 5 years.

Again he's not ideal. Tarasenko is ideal. But over ROR give me Kessel

Player often in dark on own fate so grain of salt but Craig Anderson telling people expects to go to EDM is interesting #MusicalChairGoalies

This guy reports for the Canucks on NHL.com, there's also a story in the Edmonton Journal about Anderson to the Oilers

"Hoping" a guy will be good for 8 million dollars in a cap era gets GMs fired when they aren't

If true then maybe TM played his cards right. If I were Ottawa I'd still move Lehner and pick up a UFA goalie to replace him.

I'm just going on unsubstantiated rumor that Rangers turned down the two 2's and it was the Sabres.

No he is not. But to prove my point Marty played in an era were 100 was no big deal. Phil is on par with Patty Kane and Ovechkin ppg wise but I'm being "delusional"
- Stripes77

There so many more examples that st louis. Even Jerome Iginla was effective til he was what, 37, 38? And he played a physical game

If there's any truth to that then Talbot could be coming here.

O'Reilly is a great player. Is he the best, no. Should we want him, absolutely. Its all about the cost. Same goes for Kessel. All the arguing on here is ridiculous. We were a terrible team and now we don't want to acquire talent because of what?

If O'Reilly costs you what Kane cost, a 1st and 2 prospects, than I say do it. I'm not as high on Kessel entirely because of age and contract. I think he's super talented and would be great playing with any of our 3 centres and there's always the buy-out but O'Reilly fits the long-term plan better.
