It has become an awful mess of a show....

At 33 and 34 I can see it and I would pay him the $8 million. Not to mention the previous 5 years of being a 75-85 point player, maybe even more playing with a real center for the first time in his career.

This year's Art Ross winner had 83 points. That's what the top guys get, I doubt Kessel gets close to that playing with either the Sabres or Leafs next year and at 27 would expect his point production to stay at the 65ish (which isn't far off from the 24yr old ROR) range he's at now or drop.

What was yours???? I have been saying for 3 pages now that kessel is not worth 8 million when he is 33-34 years old. you then brought up how iginla did it and said you would take 50 pts around that age. Iginla makes 5.5 million, that's good production at that salary. If he was getting paid 8 million like kessel will be at 34 that's bad.

No one is arguing that Kessel isn't worth 8 mill at 33-34, at least not me. 10 years from now, ROR being paid upwards of 7/8 million still putting up 50 points is going to be comparable to Iginla's 60 points at 5 million.

Me and a few others (MHP) have been preaching 31 for Lack would be a good deal. Got pooped on by a few. I definitely don't want to get in a bidding war for Talbot. Much rather do nothing and sign one of the half decent FA's on July 1.

There is a huge difference between a 25 year old player who plays a great 2 way game, has never seen much powerplay time, still puts up 50+ points a year, hasn't entered his prime than a 35+ year old guy who still manages to put up great numbers on 1 and 2 year deals. I'd take ROR all day and pay him 7 a year for it. That's just the economics of it.

20 goals and 35 assists for an $8 million player when the cap will be $80 million plus in 7 years will be a bargain...

The NHL better figure out how to make more money for it to be $80M+, isn't the only reason its $71M this year is due to the NHLPA exercising some 5% option. Still not sure how that works exactly.

I tried watching that show (under the dome) for about 2 episodes before I gave up

Would love to unload Weber... and Hodgson... and, even though I think he could be good, Grigorenko because he has been a headache and so mishandled by the organization.

Yes and the last 4 seasons including last years bad season Kessel averages .95 ppg...

I got to about the 7th episode. It got good then just kind of lost it but the Wachowskis didn't direct a few of the episodes toward the end.

It's like watching the episodes of Twin Peaks that David Lynch didn't direct.

Also he may fill a hole made by the impending ROR trade.

Side note: Elliotte Friedman says the Sharks are very interested in Bieksa. My hunch could be very wrong.
