6 years left. If they retain 2 mil I would take him at 5 over Bogosian any day of the week. Phaneuf has 4 40+ point seasons - sbroads24
If they retain sure, but it sounds like Babcock's a fan (plus i think he has a no trade). |

He was a nightmare in his own end the last few years. I'd be like Detroit and have no interest and not for Bogosian. |

and is a complete and utter a$$hole. No thank you. We dont need locker room cancers and bad examples for the all the young guys.
You're a knowledgeable guy, we dont always agree, but you make good points. You have to know Dion is a horrible idea. Not because he can't play but because he may be the most hated teammate in the NHL. |

He's anti Bogo because he basically got traded for his boy Myers I love Bogo, love what he brings. |

I'm not anti Bogosian, but I'm finding it hard to figure out exactly what he "brings" ?
He's not a smart hockey player, any WPG will tell you, and he's not great offensively. Saying he and Myers are a wash is ignoring the fact that Myers literally became their #1 during the 20 games there, ahead of Trouba and Byfuglien. Something Bogosian failed to do despite being drafted as their franchise defensemen |

20 games is not the deciding factor. I like Bogosian better. Plays harder, more physical, more consistent..better beard. Just plays angry, I like that. I know Myers played well in WPG, not going to argue that, but I just like what Bogosian brings better than what Myers brought, which was flashes of greatness, then long stretches of games where you just shake your head. |

Blackhawks didn't have a single defensemen ranked in the top 100 for hits. That entire concept is 20th century nhl. Todays nhl focuses more on speed and smarts, neither of which bogosian excels at. |

I hope I'm wrong but this seems to be a risky trade. Talbot has played only 57 NHL games. Not sure I'd trade more than a 2016 3rd. But I'd imagine 51 is on the table. - mhp

Bogosian was a healthy scratch for WPG this year. Consistency is not something he ever brought.
I guess I'm confused, Myers was considered this overpaid, overhyped player, yet Bogosian making just as much money, producing less, with the same consistency and injury problems is somehow this upgrade because he hits people.
To each their own, which is fine

Hits are the most arbitrary stat in the league. So teams don't need to be physical on the back end. Got it.
Bogosian skates just fine btw. |

I didn't say he sucked, i said he didn't excel. No they don't need to, poke checking the puck off a players stick and making a great first pass up ice is far more effective than making a hit and taking yourself out of the play, which bogosian has done plenty of times as a sabre already. |

The two best defensemen in the playoffs (Keith and Hedman) were rarely physical because it was a waste of energy with the minutes they played. It's just not that important |

Hitting people wears them down over time. Its important. It's not everything, but it's not to be dismissed. It's not like he's a goon back there, he can play. |

I agree with this sentiment. I was mildly disappointed by him in his small sample size with Buffalo. I know the team was terrible so I'm hoping he improves but points aside I think Myers is and will be the better player. Hopefully Bogosian can be a solid 3rd or 4th defenseman on this team. |
