Maybe we see Oshie to PIT with a young prospect like Rattie and Brandon Sutter going the other way. (Via @DarrenDreger)
But I keep hearing, if all fails, Pittsburgh and St. Louis might do something' to shake things up for both clubs. (Via @DarrenDreger)
I think there's a strong appetite to change things up a little bit. It could be a pretty significant trade. @DarrenDreger on #Pens - cap1681
Yah, rumors though. Colligan came out already and said the Pens haven't seen an offer even in the second round range for Sutter. Doubt Oshie and a prospect would be coming our way without more heading back. |

Letang should be considered untouchable unless he's being traded for a younger top 4 dman and a top 6 winger. I think of the blues/Avs trade: E. Johnson for Shattenkirk and Stewart. - drummer829
There is no way Letang should be untouchable....if you can trade him for close to value you do it. He is a hit away from calling it a career, that contract is huge for a guy who plays a little over half the games.(albeit when he does play he is a difference maker.) |

No to Oshie. He's more of a playmaker than scorer. - joescullz
If they're taking Sutter as the primary piece... i'm sure Geno would find a way to be happy and score more goals. |

What if teams wised up on Sutter? Pens could be screwed. |

I'd take Letang and his healthy issues at 7.2 over guys like Nisk, Orpik and whatever Franson will get at 5+. |

Colligan is very close with the organization. He already said they are going to get fleeced in a trade because everyone knows what they need and how desperately they need it. |

Letang is a rare defender in this league. His 5v5 offensive prowess is as good as any, including Karlsson. He is a superb defender at this point in his career too. A legit #1 defender cost a lot of money. The key is utilizing ELC's and RFA contracts. |

if no one replaces Letang, the pens then have one of the worse D corps in the league |

If this is the case, just fill holes with M St. Louis and Richards for 1 year deals, and try again next year for the mythical young scoring winger for sid.
If rutherford loses a deal on purpose ima be upset |

Then the Penguins should not be making a move at all it's not like they are one player away from a championship caliber team. |

Yeah DP has the rumored potential to be that good, but he's still 2-3 yrs from that. There is never a scenario where the Pens are better moving Letang. |

Agree completely. Letang is an extraordinary talent no question, but that health issue paired with the top heavy salaries and I think for the right price he should be moved. I am not saying the Penguins NEED to trade him, all I was saying that labeling him untouchable like a Crosby or Malkin is not the best move. When in the lineup top 5 in the league on most nights, but I think for the right price they would have to consider moving him as there is no question his contract is a liability. |

random observation based off of nothing substantial...
last year, JR plucked out Perron after EDM/the media made it clear he was available for trade. it could mean absolutely nothing, but it was interesting JR went after a guy clearly on the block.
in other words, I'm not sure if he would pursue an under the radar guy or a guy not specifically being shopped
I dont know, Im losing my mind. |

There is absolutely 0 reason to willingly get fleeced into a deal. The pens don't have to trade Sutter. They can always use him for his last year and let him walk rather than getting fleeced. At this point, I am afraid to see what the Fehr and others will get paid after that deal to Soderberg and I'd rather keep Sutter at 3.3 for the season. If the season is not going as well as expected, dump him at the deadline if you absolutely must. |

Jesus, its 10 AM here in Brazil and I'm already tense. For some reason i keep thinking JR will screw things big time and Maatta or Pouliot will not be on the roster tomorrow... |

If you can get a good offer on Sutter, pull the trigger. Then buyout Scuderi. Those are the only two players I can see being removed.
That is just a start, but it's a good start. |

Neal or PH weren't necessarily being shopped or available. That was an under the radar move. |

If Sutter is traded, it will be interesting to see the timing. We can't get a Sutter replacement until FA (im assuming we wont trade for a 3c + that would make us look veyr desperate to unload Sutter). So there is a possibility we trade him, and then Fehr and Matthias and other decent 3C options are off the market. I know Sutter is replaceable...but its a gamble. |

Love how Dreger keeps pumping up Sutter's value, hopefully some GM listens to him! |
