If Sutter is traded, it will be interesting to see the timing. We can't get a Sutter replacement until FA (im assuming we wont trade for a 3c + that would make us look veyr desperate to unload Sutter). So there is a possibility we trade him, and then Fehr and Matthias and other decent 3C options are off the market. I know Sutter is replaceable...but its a gamble.
- YouMeAndDupuis9

I wouldn't be surprised if Sutter isn't moved. It doesn't take rocket science to know the Pens are OK paying a guy like Fehr or Matthias the same hit as Sutter, so why would the team unload something to grab just 1 yr of Sutter?

Fisher signs with the Preds. I wish I made 3+mil and still not even close to being the family bread winner.

Neal or PH weren't necessarily being shopped or available. That was an under the radar move.
- sammy87

When you're shopping a guy like Neal, people become available that weren't. Unfortunately, we don't have a Neal to trade.

I just talked to him about it and he said by light he means they haven't even gotten an offer for a pick in the first two rounds. 3rd round draft pick... thats bad.

I'd say GMs are FAR more likely to listen to Dreger who constantly props up Sutter rather than RW.

No way! Dreger doesn't use analytics and it's an analytical league. Plus they pop in here and get trade ideas. It's Kunitz sutter scuds and dumo for kessel

With Soderberg and Fisher signing, the value the Pens get back for Sutter goes up.

There are plenty of teams that don't use the data. Hell, Rutherford doesn't abide by it in his decisions half the time.

Sutter should at least get *something*, but from the beginning, Scuds was going to have to get bought out or be packaged with an underpaid player like Maatta in order to be moved.

Scuds just has negative trade value. sad but true.

Kunitz will at least be a fine 3rd liner. Not worried about keeping him.

There goes my Soderberg pipe dream... Definitely on the expensive side for Sods. Probably for the best we didn't get him. May as well have Staal for 6 mil at that point.

Completely Random and no basis in any rumors....

Would any of you entertain sending Maatta or Pouliot plus Sutter to Arizona for the number 3 pick (Hanafin) and a solid forward prospect?

Arizona wants to move the three so I'm just spitballing.

Destroy me or agree with me... interested in opinions

Letang should be considered untouchable unless he's being traded for a younger top 4 dman and a top 6 winger. I think of the blues/Avs trade: E. Johnson for Shattenkirk and Stewart.
- drummer829

Absolutely.

Barrie + Young top 6 winger (MacKinnon, can O'Reilly play wing?) for Letang + would be something to consider.

Dupuis doesn't play like an old player though. And I'm hoping Sundqvist is the 3rd line center and Sutter is dealt.

That's not bad. And then you have the $$$ to either get a Franson or ... if you want to "fake" your way through replicating some of what Letang brought... mike green.

No that just sets us back a few years. Hanifin isn't as good as either player at the moment. I'd rather go after Boedker with Sutter.

Nobody has seen Dupes play a full season in 3 years now.....his durability over 82 games is a ?

ROR can play anywhere in the top 9. If that trade were available, the Pens should take it. Doubt it would be available though.

Would oshie rattie and a 2nd/3rd for Sutter and spaling be even?

Still get a pick back and have spaling off the books and rattie in wbs to help for call ups.

Then try to get another pick for the other guys we want traded.

I would do that deal instantly. No way they do that deal though with Mackinnon in it though and yes O'Reilly can play winger.

$4.8M contract. What we thought Soderberg would get. I don't see any Bruins fans complaining. Too much money.

You can bet Frolik will get his $5-5.5M now.

Not a chance IMO. That's us turning turds into golden nuggets.
