Would oshie rattie and a 2nd/3rd for Sutter and spaling be even?
Still get a pick back and have spaling off the books and rattie in wbs to help for call ups.
Then try to get another pick for the other guys we want traded. - nh4442

IDK, seems bad for them if they make that deal, they dont really need a C. Not really a shake up on the Blues end. |

ROR can play anywhere in the top 9. If that trade were available, the Pens should take it. Doubt it would be available though. - jfkst1
Is it true O'Reilly is trying to get a $7.5M contract? I heard somewhere. If so, its a big pass.

How about try to get the young russian from Edmonton on a trade based on Sutter/Dumoulin? |

$4.8M contract. What we thought Soderberg would get. I don't see any Bruins fans complaining. Too much money.
You can bet Frolik will get his $5-5.5M now. - Barnaby36
That's the nature of UFA. These players might turn down the largest contracts, but they aren't signing way below market value like most fans want them to either. The Bruins HB blogger said Soderberg's market value would be 4.5-5.5 AAV. So he was right in between that. |

If Kane and Toews are worth 10.5 AAV, ROR is worth 7.5 AAV. These guys aren't gonna take way below their market value just so it makes it easier to slot them in on the hockey's cap roster. |

This. I think we might get surprised and get Yak. Not sure the cost, probably what you said, but I would definitely take him. |

No I worry about how long he can last over the season. He has always been good 3/4 line player. |

Yeah that's what ROR wants. ROR will never be a Penguin. Right now when it comes to big names it's looking like Oshie or bust. Florida, the team with young assets to spare, is currently balking at Toronto's asking price for Kessel, so there's no possible way we can afford it.
Edmonton would never do that. They're so set on down the middle. They also have a plethora of d prospects so I think they'd be looking for an established top 4 guy. I think Despres would have been the absolute cut off. The only way is if they're interested in Kunitz in order to spark a win now culture over there. |

I'd love to get Yakupov but Sutter won't be involved in that trade. Edmonton is looking very deep at center right now. |

The closer we get to the draft, the worse my feeling gets that JR us going to make a huge mistake. - cap1681
You are not alone in that thinking. I think Rutherford gets fixated on big ticket high risk players. Ie...Semin and Staal and over spends and overpays.
I don't hate most of his moves, but Lovejoy was such a big loss of a trade it's scary to think what he is capable of. |

An aging, average 3rd line Center(worse than Sutter) and an average young goalie just got a 1st round pick. Sutter should have value. |

I'd say that favors the Pens, especially with the pick added in.
What was your source on that list you provided last night? (Joel Ward, Lucic, etc) |

Fixation concerns me because of that tweet about Kessel being one of only 4/5 wingers the Penguins think can improve the team. With as bad as their wingers are, there are plenty of wingers that can improve the team. Trading Despres for Lovejoy is nothing compared to messing up a Kessel/Skinner/Sharp/etc. trade. That'll literally destroy the Penguins. |

Keep in mind Rutherford doesn't make his picks by himself. I doubt he traded Despres away because he wanted to. Mngmt had some (most) saying on this FOR SURE. |
