There is ONE thing to worry about though..... Kessel has us and 7 other no fits or terrible cap teams on his list. That would probably lower the asking price by a little bit. Maybe Ruth gets a good enough deal in his eyes for him?
We'll find out tomorrow - BourbonCounty
Dumoulin, Bennett, 2016 1st and scuderi as a cap dump. Then leafs retain 2 mil of his salary. This is the only deal I'd be comfortable with |

I agree with Ryan more times than not, but dont consider myself a Wilsonite. That said, I definitely have come around on this idea in the last week or so. I'll take Frolik at ~$5M and keep all my prime assets. Wouldnt mind bringing in Yakupov/Jurco/Boedker level players at a much lower cost than Kessel. And also think a Sutter based deal for Vrbata, Hudler, or half priced Semin could be a great idea as well. I dont like any idea of giving up Pouliot, Maatta, Kapanen, or next year's 1st.
Frolik is a solid 2nd line winger with potential to put up 20-25 goals. I'm fine with paying a bit over what he is really worth in order to keep our young assets.
Assuming Soderberg is out. Who do you guys prefer to become the next 3C? Fehr, Matthias, Tikhonov, Sundqvist, someone else? |

Yohe was on Madden. Madden commented that he get's the feeling GMJR is itching to make a move. Yohe responded by saying he talked with somebody within the organization and he said he would agree with that.

I'm hoping Rutherford is patient and doesn't force anything. |

But does he have his putter out? That's the real determining factor.
Going to work from home tomorrow just in case
I'm fairly confident that Rutherford will make a move tomorrow...just dont know if it will be "the big move".
My confidence in JR is about 75%. I think he's got enough decent hockey brains around him to avoid doing something totally stupid. Best guess is that one of Kunitz/Bennett/Sutter are traded.

I'd love some deal to try to get Helm from Det. Then I'd pick Fehr. But, It'll probably be Sutter. |

As much as I want Bennett to succeed in a pens sweater and the fact he is an avid support of my nonprofit, I could see him being dealt in a kessel trade but I hope maatta or pouliot is not. And its not like we have a 1st to give up either.. I just don't see pens having good assests to trade for him that won't hurt this team.
I'd rather trade guys for picks ie Sutter kuni spaling Lovejoy etc and go out and get guys like tik folik tlusty franson etc.. |

Absoultely. I have a man crush on guys that can skate like the wind. I really like Helm, Cogliano (and as a non-center I like beach boy Hagelin)... but they seem firmly planted where they are.
Fehr would be my next 3c of choice as well. Also wouldn't mind bringing in Bergenheim depending how the rest of the roster shakes out. His advanced stats are pretty identical to Frolik.

Jesse Marshall had a nice little draft preview on guys who might be available. There definitely looks to be talent around 46.
edit: I watched highlights of the guy Jesse chose as his pick. Seems like Matia Marcantuoni with some actual hands. Sign me up for that. |

Martin St. Louis could be an interesting pick up. He could sign for less for a chance at a cup run with a contender (obviously wishful thinking). Worth keeping in mind. |

I think the first shoe to drop is Sutter getting moved. I was hovering around 50% for Ruth, but after the Russian signing (or soon to be), I'm up to 60%.
Two names I fear the most are Kessel and Skinner. I want no part of either. |

Of those he wrote about I like Senyshyn and Gagne the most followed by Fischer. I've watched Dermott play in Erie and he's a good player but I don't see anything special in him. I prefer the forwards instead. Not that I know a lot about them it's just my personal preference. |

Kessel with Malkin or Crosby would be amazing. Cap wise its doable. It all depends on whether Pitt wants a legit consistent scorer for as long as they have Malkin or Crosby.
Everyone remembers Kessel and how he looked with Savard feeding him in Bsonton.
*PITT fans start salivating* - 13LEAFS01
Why should we salivate? A vessel to Pittsburgh trade would ruin us for a decade. That isn't up for debate. Kessel is a lousy fit here. |

Yea, talking older players which arent really ideal, id much rather pay more for Justin Williams or someone.
There's a limited amount of roster spots. I dont want to waste a spot on 40 year old MSL who might be completely done as a player. |

He wouldn't cost as much to acquire; he wouldn't cost as much salary wise.

I disagree with this blog! Kessel beside Crosby makes the peguins cup contenders for the next 5 years..with frolik nothing changes!
You have Crosby Malkin Letang for the next 5 years of prime ! Add one of the best wingers in the nhl and you have the top scoring team in the East
Kessel for Kappenan,Harrington,dupuis,scuderi(sp),20161st
Dupuis is worth 4 m, I believe scuderi(sp) is worth 4m .. There's Kessels contract and you still get to keep pouliot and maata |

He just had a 50 + point season, he isn't toast just yet. A bad playoff run isn't a make a break, an entire poor year would be.
MSL is a great character guy to boot. |

I can't disagree. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. I don't want Sharp either by the way.
I forget where I read it.... But this off-season will probably shape the rest of Sid and Geno's prime years. I don't think Ruth is going to nibble around the edges. |
