No it makes them much worse off due to poaches assets and a weak D and continuous terrible bottom 6 with the amount of cap Kessel would need. They will be forced to continue to bargain dive via FA. It might give them 1 yr, but it will be followed with 8 terrible years.

Kessel on the opposite side of Sid on the power play with letang and Malkin on the points...kessel could easily fix that god awful power play unit last few years. Could hit the 40-50 goal mark. Worth kapenen Harrington pick as long as they take scuds and spaling

Yeah I'd be pretty pissed at first depending on the deal, but I could get very excited at the thought of Kessel on our team.

I think you may be delusional..Kessel is a elite scorer with Bozak at center .. Crosby carried Kunitz so well that he made team canada!! I believe the penguins power play was pretty good last year.. If you get Kessel I will bet anyone number one in the NHL

Have you watched one game of the Pens and know where our problems are? Nope. Delusional people think Kessel make us a Cup contender. Because non delusional people know we are going to have to give up one or two pieces we can ill afford to give up. You give up a Maatta or Pouliot in this deal, our defense looks like your's, which is AHL level. Makes zero sense champ.

It would put our franchise back a decade. Adding this clown at 8 million is utterly ridiculous. 9+ for Malkin, 8.7 for Crosby, 7.3 for Letang and 8 for dough boy means close to 50% of the cap is on four players. Puts us in more problems. Not hard to figure out.

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Pittsburgh. I was outside enjoying the weather and trying to get some things done around the house.

Pouliot or Maatta would almost certainly have to be moved for other young studs for a trade to be fair.

However, if Toronto (or whatever team) also takes the bloated contracts of Scuderi and Sutter, it *might* be worth it. The net exchange would essentially make a Kessel a $1 million player this year, a $4 million player next year, and then continue being $8 million for the rest of his contract.

Maatta might be worth two super cheap years of Kessel in that case. After all Maatta is about to get expensive himself next year.

But if we're talking one of those dmen, a 1st rounder, Sutter, and Scuderi, then i'm probably not a fan. but if it's just Maatta, sutter, and scuderi, then it might be something to consider.
