I was surprised he went third. I thought for sure he'd go second.
I was more surprised that Winslow fell to tenth. Miami must be thrilled to have gotten him. |

2 "solid" prospects, one forward, one d, and 7 overall to get to 3 ? HELL NO ! REally depends on who those "Solid" prospects are.
If the D prospect is either Sanheim,Morin or Ghost, I'll go postal !
The forward prospects don' bother me as much
- twpguy
Eklund response:
one of those D would be included.
Why? just why? why would you move one of those and a forward prospect to move uP. I swear I love and hate the draft with a passion. every year its excitement and anxiety just like the trade deadline. - nastyflyergirl
I have to trust the scouts eye here. If they really feel like Provorov is that special I have no problem with them doing it. The D would be set.
Sanheim wouldn't be in this deal at all. The 4 prospects I think would be in this convo are Laughton, NAK, Ghost, and Morin. Hagg isn't enough.
I have no problem parting with 2 of those prospects if they feel like Provorov is the real deal. Remember how the western scouts banged their fist for Sanheim? Ghost is a 2nd pairing at best and Laughton is most likely a 3rd line player in this league. |

We could not co-exist at a draft party. Our mutual anxiety would cause an implosion for sure. - mayorofangrytown

It's weird, though -- it's still hard to get a feel on if anybody is truly willing to pull the trigger on this stuff
Moving into the Top 5 has just always been so difficult...lots of people talk about it but it so rarely happens
I love talking about it, but when you look at the metrics, teams with high selections tend to make their picks as they are slotted - AllInForFlyers
if I am Arizona i would be happy to move 3 for 7 knowing i am still getting a really nice player and picking up more assets for my trouble. |

But until proven otherwise, Lehner is still a guy who couldn't beat out Craig Anderson, Kane's been injury prone and inconsistent and Eichel hasn't played a shift yet - AllInForFlyers
But at least with Kane and Lehner, you know they're (good) NHL players. Eichel, you might as well lump him in there, too. And they're all 23-yo and under.
21st and 25th-overall in a deep draft are valuable... and I'm a bigger believer in building through the draft as anyone here... but you're essentially rolling the dice on 17/18-yo's and you could still come up empty on one or both picks. And even if you hit, are you sure you're gonna get a player better than Kane? Lehner?
And say they took Samsonov with that 21st-overall instead of trading the pick... they'd essentially be waiting another 4-5 years for him to get to the exact same place in development that Lehner is at right now.
There's risk either way... I think Murray actually took the safer path here. |

O'Reilly seems like a pretty good fit as a player to play along side G and Jake on the top line and power play. Does it make sense to make Colorado an offer or are we confident in Raffl filling that role? |

saw something on the NHL network where McDavid also said he likes to play like Giroux. Pretty nice compliments from 2 top prospects - nastyflyergirl
Sometimes, I think that we (and I fall into this trap as well) forget just what a great player G is. I watched every game he played for Canada in in the World championships and he was absolutely dominant. Furthermore, his best game was the gold medal game where he executed that ridiculous behind the back blind pass. How he was ever left off the olympic team is beyond me and it still angers me... ill never forgive Yzerman ahahah |

With Jake needing an extension next year, I'd rather not get into a bidding war for ROR's rights and then have to pay him an exorbitant amount of money. |

For 18 years now, I have felt like I was the only person that remembered hearing them say those words when they got swept out of the finals in '97. It was all about team speed, drafting and developing...
Then again in 06 when Buffalo skated circles around them. |

I think Arizona is likely to stay also. I mean your their GM and your fielding all these trade calls of teams that want to get to 3 after supposedly hearing that 3-10 is about the same talent level? Something's not right here and it has to give you pause. |

If AZ wants two solid prospects they can take Laughton and 29. Sanhiem, Morin, Ghost ain't going anywhere.
I think Hextall is going to make a move. Just a gut feeling. |

Good point, I forgot about his qualifying offer being ridiculous. He really does have the skill set to insulate G and Jake though. May be too early for the Flyers to make that type of move. |
