I don't see anyone at #3 that has as much proven value to Flyers that Couturier has already established. Not to mention he still has the potential to be much better than he is today. - Baxter27
Strome/Marner > Couturier
IMHO TBH IMO |

I wonder if the rights to Gus would be included in any deal for the #3 pick? |

Folin, Reilly, must be nice plucking young NHL caliber dmen for nothing - Just5
Hey we got Gustafsson. But seriously, Matt Read's been a nice find despite this past season. Not a defenseman, but still a good player that cost nothing at the time. |

I like Couturier a lot, but the #3 pick in this draft would be a good return for him, whether you took Marner or Hanifin. |

And now it seems possibility of a #Bruins trade of Dougie Hamilton to #Coyotes is picking up steam. Would include No. 3 pick in return. - Winning
HOLY poop, if that's true -- and again, that's an "if"
I have read that for whatever reason, they might not want to pay Hamilton
That is crazy as (frank), IF, again IF, true

They sooner move Lucic than let a D man like that go. |

I think most are thinking its a scare tactic to the dougie camp to start getting reasonable or he'll get sent to the desert. |

Grossmann for Devil's 41 pick

The Flyers couldn't put MacDonald, L. Schenn, or Grossman with their # 29 pick, and move up to # 28. |

Lucic only has a year left, so maybe they're nervous about his new contract demands. |

In terms of value I would agree, but you don't make a trade on value alone. There is a ton of risk in trading a player who will not be easily replaced and plays a critical role on your team for a draft pick with any uncertainity for success. After McDavid and Eichel there are question marks around every prospect in the draft.
When the Flyers traded for Brayden Schenn he was ranked the number 1 prospect in all of hockey, has he found consistency yet?
Before and after Tampa took Drouin 3rd overall in 2013 some experts were ready to declare him the best player in the draft. Does that still seem justified? |

I would say Couturier was more accomplished at 18 than either at the junior level, so I would disagree. |

Great points, I agree. The draftees are shiny new toys so to speak. If they want Couturier in the deal for the 3rd pick, I wouldn't be willing to include any of the top defense prospects. |

The year of the OV
If the Flyers manage to get Provorov without giving up assets and some how manage to move up from#29 (or have them fall to #29) to grab Svechnikov or Guryanov.
I'm set for the weekend.

Thanks Bill. Do you think that MDZ is not happy with the Flyers since Ek is saying that they might be headed towards arbitration? I am thinking that he might be harboring some ill feelings towards the way that he was benched earlier on last season. I am hoping that Hexy can dump some salary, and players in order to resign MDZ, but we might end up having to trade his rights. He finished strong last season, so I would hate to see him go, but this is a business after all. - OrangeAndBlack1
No ill feelings. Just wants to get paid. Honestly, MDZ is the type of player who very easily could spend much of his career in and out of the doghouse -- as has been his story thus far.

There is very little interest among NHL teams in Gus. He is basically considered a dime-a-dozen fringe AHL/NHL defenseman, fairly or unfairly. |
