There is very little interest among NHL teams in Gus. He is basically considered a dime-a-dozen fringe AHL/NHL defenseman, fairly or unfairly. - bmeltzer
Gus is Danny Syvret Jr. Someone once traded a current first line player on a perennial 100 point team for Danny Syvret. |

But at least with Kane and Lehner, you know they're (good) NHL players. Eichel, you might as well lump him in there, too. And they're all 23-yo and under.
21st and 25th-overall in a deep draft are valuable... and I'm a bigger believer in building through the draft as anyone here... but you're essentially rolling the dice on 17/18-yo's and you could still come up empty on one or both picks. And even if you hit, are you sure you're gonna get a player better than Kane? Lehner?
And say they took Samsonov with that 21st-overall instead of trading the pick... they'd essentially be waiting another 4-5 years for him to get to the exact same place in development that Lehner is at right now.
There's risk either way... I think Murray actually took the safer path here. - Tomahawk
And the more expensive one. But Buffalo has a little cap space to spare...

Didn't that same perenial 100 point team just let the other first line LW walk into free agency? |

Well said...truthfully, I can't really argue against that point of view, and won't, because those three players really are talented, and we have seen it from two of them in the league

ICYMI: @jonasTSN1050 says it'll come down to Mitch Marner or Noah Hanifin for #Leafs at No. 4: http://www.tsn.ca/radio/t...n-hanifin-marner-1.318602 … - Winning
1. McDavid
2. Eichel
3. Hanifin/Strome
4. Hanifin/Strome
5. Marner
6. Zacha
7. ???
I think if a team moves up to 3-5 and takes Provorov, that's where things could get very interesting. I'm just happy it's finally draft day/night. |

I think NJ is the wildcard, they are going to dictate who the Flyers get. Not sure why so many mock drafts think Zacha is locked for NJ. |

I never knew that was Rodney Jones, I basically just thought we were throwing out crappy Flyer names. |

You mean if the Bruins are willing to trade Hamilton for the #3 and the Flyers aren't willing to trade Coots for #3, we got the wrong player?
Also, these guys have been in the league for, what, 4 years now? Coming directly into the NHL at 18? Get back to me in 3-4 years supertuff. |

I'd be very happy with Provorov and a handful of others. I don't want to get my hopes up on one player, but I'm definitely leaning that way with Provorov. But won't be disappointed when Hextall announces Zacha, Rantanen, Connor, etc's name. |
