Hamilton deal is terrible, but they made out well on the Lucic deal.

Pretty sure they have 3 firsts and 3 seconds now

- PhillySportsGuy

I would have given up the 7th overall pick for Dougie Hamilton. It might sound crazy but he's young, he held up well next to Chara, he's right handed and some expect him to be a number one stud some day.

How the hell did Lucic bring back more than Hamilton?

Strange times indeed

Can someone explain to me why the Rangers will probably get a first rounder for Cam Talbot?

So which of the big four D prospects will make the lineup next year (since Panotch continues to report that one of them is expected to earn a spot in training camp and how could he be wrong about that?)?

I would have too. I think most people would have as well.

Strange move. Seems like bad blood between Bruins management and the agent. Surprised they couldn't work out some kind of deal.

The Bruins retained close to half of Lucic's cap hit/salary in order to make trade work with the cap-strung Kings

Not as great as I originally thought

I'd say its morin too. I don't see how that's possible as of now though with every other (frank)ing dman we have signed currently.

It's just one year though. And the return was too good to pass up imo

I this it's possible Morin could but outside of that, Tim needs to shut up! Since we're over stalked as it is, even without Morin, I'm not so sure we should expect any of the kids to make the team unless a couple bodies are moved out.

I would watch that situation closely. Heck, offer the 7th overall pick to Calgary for Hamilton and try to move up from 29th.

Good point. I still don't get why they got Jones though. Insurance for MSubban not being ready to back up this year?

So rather than giving a 22 year old top pair d-man his money the Boston Bruins elect to extend Adam McQuaid for $2.75M and pay Milan Lucic $3M or so to play somewhere else.

If Hamilton's asking price was in the $7 mill range, I should think Boston could have signed him for somewhere between 5-7 mill, which seems more than reasonable to me. Still don't get the deal

Boston has lost its marbles.

In a way I am kind of enticed. If Chara is made available, what would said price be?

The are also picking 6 times in the top 60 of a deep draft and got a good defense prospect from the Calder Cup winning Monarchs

not really 13/14/15 + 2nd round picks makes it easy to restock

I wouldn't trade for Chara at this stage of his career (and I do still think he's a great player) but man would that be nuts if he was traded next.

Have to figure they try to move up with those.

I like the Lucic move, would have re-signed Hamilton for 6-7 million.

My dream will be complete if Kessel ends up in Pittsburgh.

If those picks pan out, sure. We already know Hamilton is capable of 40+ points as an NHL defenseman. The prospect they picked up is nice, but there is a whole lot more uncertainty there for Boston
