Can you repost that Black Book on Provorov or tell me what page its on?
- MBFlyerfan

Provorov, Ivan LD – Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL) – 6'01” 201 HockeyProspect.com Ranking: 9

Ivan Provorov is a dynamic offensive defenceman who made his mark this year with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL. Blessed with a low centre-of-gravity for his height, excellent crossover technique, powerful skating strides and tremendous puckhandling skills, Provorov is able to skate the puck from end-to-end in a quick and deceptive fashion. Fantastic edgework and turning allows him to cut quickly around the net and launch his puck rush, or set him up for a solid first pass. His hockey sense additionally allows Provorov to misdirect his opponents with highlight-reel worthy spin-o-ramas and head-fakes that leave the opposition consistently bewildered. Excellent vision, hockey IQ, passing and shooting round out an offensive game that is already in full bloom. In addition to the offensive tools, he's also a great physical player who has the ability to land crushing open ice hits on a regular basis.

Provorov is a defender who can puckhandle, pass and even shoot while skating at top speed. This makes him a difficult defenceman to predict in the offensive zone. His defensive reads are sometimes problematic as there's a lot of underlying risk in his decisions, but he has the skating skills and hockey IQ help cover some of those mistakes. Indeed, the main criticism of his game at this point is that he tries to go end-to-end all on his own a bit too much, resulting in some costly turnovers.

Provorov's defensive skillset is pretty good overall. He keeps good gaps, makes smart reads, has a strong pokecheck and a loves to hit either in open-ice or along the walls. He blocks shots, closes off passing lanes and directs traffic from the back end. Provorov is reliable on the penalty kill and played a big role for his team regardless of the situation.

Quotable: “Like just about everyone else, I like Provorov a lot. He’s up with the top guys in this draft class as far as being pro ready. I think that if the right situation exists based on who drafts him, he has a chance to play NHL hockey next season.” - Mark Edward

The #Flyers end up with ISS Hockey's 7th and 12th ranked players in the draft, not bad.

- Winning

Looks like a great draft on paper. Have to be thrilled with the picks.
Giving up #61 isn't that big a deal to move up to grab a player you really want. I like the aggressiveness. What are the odds #61 makes the NHL?

He only missed 13 games in the past two seasons.

Well hopefully he learns to avoid bad contact and gets bigger. When I hear head injuries I get worried.

He'll be the next Shea Weber.

They can rebuild in one fell swoop by trading Chara. Just don't see why they didn't
- Giroux_Is_God

They still can. It doesn't make sense to keep him now. They won't be terrible next year, they still got some good player, and Rask of course. But they took a few step backs today it appears.

lol

I was reading the Toronto thread. They wanted Konecny. They hate the trade. Makes the Flyers winners based on that alone!

What did we give up besides 29 to get to 24? After 2.5 days without power I obviously can't handle my booze. Was catching Flies on the couch after 19.

Let me rephrase:

They could have rebuilt in one fell swoop AND kept Hamilton by dealing away Chara

Would you package Del Zotto's rights and a 3rd to move up into the top 50?

I'm so doing it. Kylington, etc.are still on the board.
