Perhaps, but at the same time, they really undervalued the kid. Worst case, you sign him to a short term deal and trade him at the TDL or draft next summer - Jsaquella
I've got some close friends who are bruins fans and they can't believe this madness. |

I just get the feeling Hexy isn't in the mood to deal with his contract bullpoop.
I know people are going to freak out when I say this, but the team would be better off sacrificing next year in order to gather more prospects and picks while trying to unload bad contracts.
By 2016-17, I expect Morin, Ghost, Sanheim and Provorov to all be starting for the Flyers. That's the season they should be aiming to hit the upswing. IMHO!!!! - PhillySportsGuy
This is me freaking out.

Well I wanted Provorov and to move up with BSchenn and grab a winger projected to go in the top 20. They did that AND kept BSchenn. Pretty thrilled with the outcome there.
Let's move a D man or two tomorrow and get us a goalie and some forwards for the system. |

It's just like, OK when's the next step? I started thinking about the Sixers in 1986, when they traded away Moses and the top pick for a bunch of guys who really changed the dynamic, but left some big holes.
People were waiting for the final move that made the first set of deals make sense and it never came. That's what i'd feel like if I was a Bruins fan |

Yeah. Wondering your thoughts. I'm very happy with hextalls work here. If provorov is half as good as the experts say, I think hexy has us on our way. At the wmd of the day I think the big move might have been to have hexy take over |

I really liked Provorov. He was consistently in my core group of guys I liked at 7. Figured there was a good chance he'd fall. Biggest worry was Arizona trading out of 3, because then Hanifin would be gone(or maybe even Provorov himself), and while I figured Toronto was going Marner or Strome, and NJ was going forward, wasn't sure on Carolina.
But it worked out perfect. I watched Provorov a lot, good wheels, smarts, calm, cool and collected on the ice. He's got the tools to be a top pair guy, maybe even a number one.
Konecny was a guy I would have likely targeted had the Flyers traded down from 7. I expected him to be gone by 20, and when they traded up, I figured he was the pick. He's a good skater, likes to go to the dirty areas and bang, good skills too. I think after some of the reaches(Boston especially) he kind of got in the group that fell |

Oh no sympathy, except for my Bruins fan friends.
I like the Lucic deal. Getting a first and jones for him was good. Eating the salary was a bit of a downside, but overall, good deal.
But Hamilton...you can't just toss him away like that. And the picks...it just seems like they had a plan and it fell through and there was no back up plan. |

That the one downside from tonight, but worth it to snag Konecny. He's going to be a popular guy here. |

Clearly the guy wanted with that 2nd pick was Konecny and he wasn't going to let him slip away at the cost of a late 2nd round pick. Can't argue with that management philosophy. |

I'm prob delusional but I think this has really set us up to contend in 2 to 3 years. You have to be patient and I think he y has us on the path.

I was waiting for a trade up from 16 on, TBQH. After Boston got done and all those guys were on the board, I was saying, c'mon, Hexy...gotta slide up here. Was hoping they'd do it for Connor, but Konecny was a cheap price.
They walked out of the first round with two guys that were widely seen as lottery picks. Hard to b upset |

Tomorrow should be fun. Still catching up on stuff (had to go out) and had to look twice to make sure I wasn't hallucinating when I saw Boston with #13, 14, and 15 picks... Plus those 2 2nd rounders they got from Calgary, plus their own... That's 6 picks inside the first 52. Not too shabby. |

It's a great first round, following an excellent draft last year, IMO.
They made smart, solid picks. Didn't go nuts to move up. Didn't whip it out to show everyone they had huge stone by taking a huge risk/reward guy, like Dallas did. I just hope tomorrow brings more picks |
