Good question. I wouldn't necessarily subtract from the pile.. If it means we give up something less or he's there when we get to 7, then go for the dman. That's all I am saying.

That's the subjective thing about it. The Flyers may think that they are. And who knows, maybe their target is a forward, I don't know. Getting that franchise defenseman sets you up for years.

That's a real gamble then. Gotta be sure before I do that. One thing I will say, is that I believe the reports that Hexy was all in to get Ekblad last year and that it wouldn't be shocking to me if he traded up to get a dman.

I think the Coyotes would take Marner at 3. Which means, in order to secure Provorov/Hanifin, we'd have to either a) get into a bidding war with another team for a dman or b) trade with Toronto for the #4 overall pick. Not a fan of either.

Maybe it's a travel thing. If they're heading south to play the FL teams, or Washington, throw Carolina in there, too. Conversely, if Carolina is heading north to play Washington or any of the NY metro teams, throw Philly in there, too.

Well, according to the almighty Ek, one of the 4 is on the chopping block.

So, if Ek's rumor of #7, one forward prospect, and one defensive prospect is true, I don't like it. I know I may be in the minority, but I'm still high on Hagg and Ghost, and I wouldn't move either of Morin or Sanheim. Subsequently, I wouldn't want to move any of Luaghon, NAK, or Fazleev either. Just (frank)ing stay at 7.

Yeah, that's what I am leaning towards as well, but I also wouldn't be surprised if a move is made as I think Hexy will try to be aggressive if it makes sense.

Organizationally, I just don't think the Flyers are deep enough to be trying to expend assets to move up in a draft where, if they stay put (or even move back a bit), they can still get a high end talent.

Maybe next year they can do something like that, after they draft everyone they are going to draft this year and replenish the organization, but I don't think this is the year.
