Right.
We understand.
But, does he have to start wasting 1st round picks for at best average goalie?
To me, 1st round picks don't grow on trees, to be easily given away for BS players. - Sabresfan88
He's 23 and already had 2 great seasons. If he's 26 years old and becomes useless to us, go ahead and roast the trade. It's too early. |

Wait and see what happens?! With these kind of trades, another 40 years without a cup! |

Maybe this is the guy he wanted.
And to even suggest that this is his signature trade is ludicrous - grand-magus

I had a day like this when NJ signed Ryane Clowe to that ridiculous contract.
But put it this way... it's like a kid at school doing something really embarrassing... sure he gets made fun of for the time being until some other kid does something really embarrassing and you guys go back into the shadows! |

#Sens AGM Pierre Dorion yesterday: "Robin Lehner has the upside to be one of the top five goalies in the league." #Sabres hope so.
Seems this is pretty consensus. |

Is that the final trade?
21st for Robin Don't know where I am and David I'm really a 4th liner?
No prospects involved?
This is a clear sign of TM falling in love with players he drafted. This is a bad, bad trade. Ottawa needed to move a goalie, everyone in the league knows that, so not only did they get a first they dumped salary in the process.
This is awful. |

WTF! Just turned on my computer to hear about this horrible trade with Ottawa. Worst possible scenario from my perspective. Take a concussion prone goalie on the down swing along with a dried up piece of old crap (Legwand). For our 21st! Is this for real or am I still sleeping?
I have been a supporter and defender of Murray but now I am having my doubts about him. Next up - #2, Reinhart, Risto and Girgs for ROR?
Brutal. Just brutal. |

Signiture trade might be taking it far, but yes, he overpaid because you could have had a goaltender in the UFA market for free. Are they Vezina winners no of course not, but neither is Lehner.
Now, I'm hoping that Murray sees Lehner and says "This is the guy I want backstopping my team for a run" and is channeling his inner Herb Brooks from the Disney version of Miracle, but from the numbers and the concussions and the fact that goalies are generally so unknown I'm fairly worried.
I'm not saying this will derail the team or the rebuild because it won't, but I don't think this was a step in the right direction at all. |

I don't question the talent, I just don't see the need to give up the 21st in this draft to get him. We are not going to the cup next season or the one after that, Murray needs to have some patience....(cue the Axel Rose whistling) |

I am one of the few here that actually like Lehner. That doesn't justify the price that we paid. Sentral Henderson has the upside to be a great tackle - that doesn't mean I take him in the first round.

Fair enough, but some on here are acting like we just traded Perreault for Bruce Shoebottom.

You really think so? With both Enroth and Neuvirth voicing their displeasure about how things went down here, you think some guy would have just signed here? |

Darcy didn't give up a 1st in a deep draft for a goalie with concussion problems |
