Thanks GMTM for ruining what i thought was gonna be a great day. We have no pretty much given away our other two 1st rounders.

1st rounders have proven to be worth a lot in years past. This a a deep draft from what i have heard and to give away those 1sts the way we did is just insane. I'd expect us to get a goalie thats proven like Schneider. Not Lehner who btw I was a fan of. Lehner should have been had for one of the several 2nd rounders we have. We could have waited it out and Ottawa would have dropped the price.

I'm not overreacting by being upset about this. We suffered two terrible years and Darcy worked his trade magic to get the picks. GMTM comes in and trades things away like they are nothing. Its upsetting.

Buffalo also had the 21st pick and could try to move up, trade it or just use it there. Murray said, “If there’s a guy left in our top 10, that would be outstanding, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Number two is a team calls and they’re having problems with their cap situation and they offer a 23 or 24 year old top six forward or top three defenseman or number one goalie and they’d be willing to take 21 for that.” Murray added, both scenarios are optimal for us and the chance of either scenario happening right now is slim to none.”

he did it for someone who *might* be a #1 goalie.

You can't look at this and say "This is all we got for Vanek" because that is so completely inaccurate it's not even funny.

Im sure it's been debated before in these parts and I know Pegula is a risk taker, any chance you guys would move the #2 overall for big time established young gun like a Seguin or a player like that?

Got text from NHL scout who says Lehner is "a terrific young goalie", reminds him of Olaf Kolzig. "Definitely the best goalie Ottawa had."

I am starting to warm up to it a bit as I actually like Lehner. I think what disappoints me the most was that i was hoping to use 21 to move up to get a top 6 player.

Maybe the bright side of this is that we can't use 21 to make a foolish trade to get ROR (knocking on wood).

doesn't take a genius to see this was a bad trade. When in years past has a unproven goalie been traded for a 1st rounder? Heck Bishop was traded for Conacher!

If this works out, its in 3-5 years when lehner is in his prime and this team is competing deep in the playoffs.

A) Lehner and Legwand, or
B) Markstrom and Hamhuis?

Potential number one goalies with similar resumes and an older salary dump.
