Just gotta say
when Darcy was GM (under the previous owner)
Few/no major trades, everyone complains he's not a risk taker, people poop all over him.
Darcy under Pegula: Big signings, takes on risks, people complain they were bad risks, poop everywhere again.
Darcy leaves, TM comes in, people love him until he starts doing things. Complain he's not getting enough value, don't like his risks, think the future is dismal, poop all over the place again.
THIS IS WHAT A RISK-TAKING GM LOOKS LIKE! Win some, lose some. Let's give the guy a chance, see if he can dismantle and rebuild a team to contention again. All the GMs are looking for a deal, all the players are looking for a payday. If you want ANYTHING in the NHL, you're going to overpay as a GM. |

Matty Mo got them 2 other 2nds and then signed him back.
Matty Mo isn't great but when put with quality players is a 20-30 goal scorer.
In case you missed our last few seasons we need to score more. - dadeadhead
I hear you. Not sure if Moulson has a shot of ever hitting 30 goals again I'd be shocked to see him hit 20 actually. He's a one trick pony but I think that one trick may have dried up for him. I'll leave on that note |

3 2nd rounders last year and failed to move up. - sbroads24
So then he doesn't move up and uses the picks.
Maybe he trades them for NHL ready players.
Maybe he calls you or me for our opinions? Oh that's right he has zero fvcks to give about our opinions.

Edmonton keeps trying different goalies when really the issue is defense. Muzzin certainly makes it more interesting, that's for sure. |

A drafted goalie would be many, many years away from being the starter. One of the guys we already have in the system would have a better chance at becoming one prior to one drafted this year.
As far as the UFA part, you have to get a guy to come. No guarantee you could. - HonkFortheGoose
"Many, many years"
Idk about that
How long ago was Vasilevsky drafted?
As far as getting someone to come here...
That's a valid point
But there's are more goalies out there than jobs available
I don't know if we could've got someone ideal, but I think we could've at least gotten someone like Ramo (who's just as good as Talbot or Lack IMO)
I just don't like that we gave up a 1st for a goalie
Although if he ends up working out, then I guess it'll be worth it
I have a feeling ill cringe when I see who's still available at #21 though |

He was drafted 3 years ago. And will have probably at least 1 more year to sit behind Bishop.
As far as cringing when the 21st pick comes around, wait 3 years and see if that player has done anything and then have a reaction.

NYR have been offered a 1st rounder for Talbot. Not from Oilers or Flames. Dallas, SJ and Florida still involved. 1st isn't a deal |

I see that. But in general, Edmonton could trade for 12 goalies. Until they fix the defense they put out there, it's not going to make a difference. |

He will still draft a goalie.
He is of the mind of "you draft one every year". - dadeadhead
Prob not at 31 though
I'm guessing he "throws a dart" in the later rounds
I don't think he trades a 1st for Lehner unless he thinks he's our #1 for the present, and future |

Yea sure youll leave on that note. He scored 13 last season on the worst offensive (if not the simply the worst) team of all time.
He isnt 40, he has a couple more 20 goal seasons in him here id bet on it. |

Vasilevsky looks ready to be a starter to me
I'd rather have Ramo (and I don't really like him) for a few years & then bring in Samsonov, but I guess a lot of that is bc I'm not high on Lehner
If we had traded for Gibson or Allen I'd have been cool with it |
