Everyone who doesn't want to give ROR $7 million a year realize he already makes $6 million right? He's going to get a raise of at least $1 million. That's just the way it is. People act like they are the ones who have to pay him for crying out loud. - Pierceme69
He's gonna want a raise and he's going to want term. If our starting point is 8 years, hopefully that may help negeotiate the raise. He can be as greedy as he wants, but he needs to understand the more cash he locks up, we wont be able to pay others in the future. Also, over 8 years the cap is going to rise. 7 million next year may not look so bad in 4 or 5. |

I can't believe this is what our team looks like now. Tim Murray walked in here with this all planned out. I think we'll have the largest change in goal differential in the NHL by the end of next season. It's pretty easy to do considering how poorly we've been. |

I dont think its because we pay it, which we indirectly do, more of the fact, in most people's opinions, he isnt worth 7 million dollars a year. Remember how much poop Vanek took? He at least put up 80, 70 points, was a consant 60 point guy at the low end. And hit 40 goals a couple of times. - Mentalorgasm5
People get obsessed with scoring numbers. ROR is a much better hockey player than Vanek. |

Well for one, he can't get 8 years from us. There is no way Murray waits until next year to get this deal done. So he gets 7 years. |

That's why it would be incredible to see him on a line with Eichel and Moulson - bluengold12
Yup, hopefully moulson and reinhart can keep up with eichel. Maybe ror is a better fit with those two. I think itll be ok either way. |

Because it's key. If o'reilly is getting 7, what do eichel, Reinhart and kane get? |

Yeah, he said he called his agent right after he picked Eichel and went through the formalities with him. He told ROR's agent he wants to be ready to talk on July 1st.
Is the 7 years an NHL rule thing? Either way, locking him up 7 would only take him to about age 31-32. Which in my opinion, is a perfect time to let a player go.

Eichel and Reinhart arent getting paid more than the rookie maximum for 3 years, right? By that time, we should be looking at some semblance of the cap raising. Even if its 1-2 million raise per year, in 3 years, we have almost all or ROR's salary covered if it is in fact $7m/per.

Yeah, you have to have a player for a calendar year before you can offer them an 8 year deal. |
