Flames dealt 15th overall pick to Boston and more picks as well for Dougie Hamilton

- AlexF

I still think it is Franking bull crap that they are drafting that high at 15.

We should be drafting inside of 20.

If you make if further in the playoffs you should have a worse draft position.

BOS return marginally better than what they would get if Hamilton got an offer sheet. From CGY side, upgraded pics worth it. Got player.

True story, I stopped at a tackle shop this morning, and wandered around for a bit. The clerk could see that I was lost so he came and asked if he could help me with anything. I said that I was looking for Dragon Fly Nymphs. He looks at me like I'm an idiot and says they're right there and points to a display right in front of my face. Oh I say, which ones? Now he's looking at me like he's scared that I'm going to start drooling on myself. All of them, he said.

A first and two second round draft picks for Hamilton is a better return than if a team offer sheeted him for around $5.5 to $7.3 million.

The Bruins would have received a first, second, and third as compensation on an offer sheet unless it was over $7.3 million or so.

- LeftCoaster

Calgary turns around and signs him for 7.4 million

Probably got scared that they can't dump enough salary to match an OS or think they can trade up to #3 for Hannifin

Sad part of Hamilton trade is that now we won't get the drama of Peter Chiarelli slapping his former team with an offer sheet. Damn it!!!!

That's a lot better than our future core. So you guys re-signed Giordano for $9M then?

So Edler for Lucic and a 1st lol.... If sweeney is dumb enough to trade a 22 yr old franchise Dman for slim chance of an equal replacement player, he might be down

When kopitar was drafted he was barely even scouted.
- manvanfan

Thats not at all true. He was in the top 10 til the draft actually went down. He ranked around 7-10 I think when he fell and Nonis was stuck on taking a D. Nonis was on record saying they thought real hard about Kopitar but didnt want to risk him not plying in North America. Horrible read...

I followed that draft class closely because it was lottery. Wasnt sure where we would pick and hard to gauge who would pick who because of the new cap coming out of the lockout.

Plus those compensation picks would be for the 2016 draft, instead they got 3 picks in 2015.

I'd love if you guys resigned Yannick Weber, but as long as he gets a good job in the NHL with plenty of ice time I'm happy
