I've never said anything about all changes come draft day. Never said it once. But the draft day is a good time to get some extra value. I'm not confident that bieksa can have another good year and his value will drop even further. Maybe you can convince me different but I think this draft day was the best time to get something of value for KB.
- bloatedmosquito

You think value was being offered for Bieksa or Bieksa wasnt being shopped? I don't understand? I'm sure Benning is trying to get best value for these guys but people are upset that he isnt. That would be other side of the trade negotiation not JB. Why do people have a hard time wrapping their head around it.

Another thing you are not considering is KB's NTC. You talk about his market with value... so far we only know of 1 team he waived to go to... what kind of bargaining position does that put JB in to get all this value you speak of?

Benning might be a really good scout/talent evaluator, but he's poop as an asset manager.

We said the same about Gillis too. Maybe our assets just suck?

That seems like wishful thinking. How many times has a goalie been traded for a good return between July/September?
- Nucker101

Bernier was traded for Ben Scrivens, Matt Frattin and a 2nd round draft pick but that was in June and was Nonis so it doesn't count.

When Canucks win 3 cups then you can come back and ask how long we hang onto our core.
- VANTEL

There is a difference between hanging on and being realistic. You seem like you want the Canucks to be managed the same way you manage a team in NHL 15.

Bernier was also highly thought of since he was drafted and younger. Plus he wasn't a pending UFA.

Your head would explode if you posted here even once a week with some of the ridiculous suggestions people make.

Gillis just didn't have anyone to deal with b/c he was such a wiener, that and overvaluing players.

How many Canuck games have you seen in the last 4 years? Ten?

Or maybe an undrafted Eddie Lack, who lost his playoff job to an injured player, just isn't viewed as good around the league as Canuck homer fans feel he is?

I'm fine with this draft and understand why Lack was only dealt for a third. Only complaints is that they pulled the trigger on the Bieksa deal but if they put him back with Hamhuis next year, his value won't decline and he might even be able to get a 2nd+ at the TDL so no biggie.

Boeser and Brisbois are solid picks that I'm pretty happy with.

I meant because he didnt take Pilon

Rebuild is change . guys like you that think you know it all and correct everybody try to tell us what we want. maybe you are dumb enough to sit and watch Bieksa play another year on this team and hope his value increases while he gets older and slower, smarter fans will be pushing him out the door
- VANTEL

Bieksa waived to go to 1 team. They didnt offer enough. Get over it cupcake.

I'm dumb because I'm going to watch this team with or without Bieksa? You are weak.

Stale old core loaded with NTC's. Anymore questions?

Hearing that the Vancouver Canucks are none too happy with the way #SJSharks handled potential Bieksa deal…for whatever that’s worth

I've heard Doug Wilson can be very difficult to deal with on trades.

Pilon isn't that great, he was a solid mid-round prospect. I would have taken him over any of the guys we drafted after Brisbois for sure but I still had a few guys ranked even higher than Pilon during the 4th round. Definitely wanted him in the 5th but oh well.

Any offer for him would have been enough. If anyone should know, it is the guy who has been his been his biggest critic for 5 years

This is what I suspected. That Wilson got cold feet after getting excited originally by Bieksa being available. They can't be that pissed since they dealt McNally to them for the 2nd-last pick in the draft.

You are only one of dozens to tell vantel this. He thinks you can toss out a bucket of players like bath water and then scoop up another to replace it.

That is (frank)ing hilarious, now the blame game starts! He handcuffed the team, when that happens your options are limited. What did you expect, fair value?

Several teams interested, he picked one. Wilson was probably laughing his ass off.

That seventh-round pick the #Canucks also received for Lack is not in 2016 as first released. It's in this draft. #NHLDraft2015
