if you didn't see this before the actual draft you're blind. In the past seven years the Flames and Oilers have had ONE playoff appearance combined.

It's just our turn to suck for awhile...

Lucic beating the crap out of Bieksa on a regular basis.

Yeah, he's no MacKenzie Stewart(which is a good thing). Benning has improved.
- Nucker101

To be honest it's really difficult to come in and get a handle on things after one month on the job...much better this year.

You think value was being offered for Bieksa or Bieksa wasnt being shopped? I don't understand? I'm sure Benning is trying to get best value for these guys but people are upset that he isnt. That would be other side of the trade negotiation not JB. Why do people have a hard time wrapping their head around it.

Another thing you are not considering is KB's NTC. You talk about his market with value... so far we only know of 1 team he waived to go to... what kind of bargaining position does that put JB in to get all this value you speak of?

- boonerbuck

You had mentioned earlier that SJ will probably give up a prospect for bieksa at some point. As you pointed out above the market is set by others not Benning. So what makes him untradeable now but worth a prospect later? I would think his value will drop as time goes by. And God help us if bieksa plays a game for us next season.

You don't suck by building teams that just make the playoffs. then you get stuck in draft Limbo.

If he scores under 20 goals again, I can live with that knowing LA gave up a chance to draft Kyle Connor for him.

#Canucks GM Jim Benning said he talked to 10 teams on Eddie Lack but the #Hurricanes offer was the only firm one.

If they're smart, they encourage WD to play him with Hamhuis. He'll do better this year with Hamhuis than he did with #5 last year. If they play him with that scrub again then I agree, Benning should have taken SJ's 2016 2nd and ran.

Benning is not building. He's adding younger players. The ONLY thing that's keeping the Canucks where they are is the Sedin twins.

This is why I can't be pissed at him, he did the best he could. Markstrom offers would have been basically scraps.

Brisebois is a solid prospect.

He will be on the roster, unless he adds another 1/2 dozen teams to his list of 1.

Is next years draft better than this year? Look at me, I feel like an oilers fan already moving past the whole regular season.

Where is this "1 team list" BS coming from? SJ was the one who likely asked about Bieksa and was the most aggressive so that's why Bieksa negotiated an extension with them. That doesn't mean that he'd only waive for them. Benning even said that he doesn't ask players to waive until a trade is close to happening first so I doubt Bieksa was even asked to waive for other teams.

Any offer for him would have been enough. If anyone should know, it is the guy who has been his been his biggest critic for 5 years
- VANTEL

So what? I am a critic. Like I said, for me that doesnt translate into chasing people out of town and dumping them. You want to bury players that are part of our core in the minors to force them to ask for trades... you want them dumped for nothing... you are the most unrealistic poster on here.

It's June 27th. OMFG

It may not have better prospects, but we'll be picking top 10.

Well if he has as much "value" as you suggest this should be a real easy deal to make!

Like Vantel says, you can't be good unless you're bad. Canucks are on that downhill slide and people are gonna be pissed but it's actually a good thing for the distant future.
