Boychuk and Hamilton gone within 10 months, and they're both top-15 RD. We've simply never seen salary cap mismanagement of this magnitude.

Great stat on twitter. historical % of the picks turning into 200GP players are 57% 28% and 26% respectively. Basically Boston just traded a young stud for a bunch of lottery tickets and even if one pans out, he'll be lucky to be a core player.

My guess is there's more to it then that, I think Boston was really up against a creek salary cap wise and Hamilton wasn't going to resign for less than 8 yrs 7 mil (which if I'm Boston, I'm signing it in my blood). Now he's a Flame... Vancouver's (frank)ed for the next 7-8 years with Calgary and Edmonton...

You can add Boychuk to that list. Really good for them that they won a Cup a few years back because it doesn't look they're setting up for any kind of notable future.

Trading a 22 year old stud dman for picks that are far from mocks to even be NHL'ers is stupid as (frank).

Trade Chara, Lucic, Marchand or Krejci then it makes sense.


I guess Hamilton will be too old for their 10 year rebuild plan. That trade was pathetic.

What the heck are you talking about? A highly touted prospect playing well in the NHL is worth 20x than a pick. Boston has given up Seguin, Boychuk, and now Hamilton for what will likely be next to nothing of real value.

That is poor team management by any standard. If their fans are female doging it is for excellent reason.

So it is being reported that Hamilton is only asking for 5.5 annually.... This makes the trade look even dumber......
