Brendan Shanahan, still taking notes.
- RonPielep

Shanahan doesn't have anyone he has to move today.

If i read you right, you just said to trade a 1st line center, 1st line power forward, 2nd line goal scorer and top pairing to keep Hamilton?
Exactly how high are you right now?

- Thornton22

I think what we are both saying is... these are puzzling moves. However, if the intent was to re-stock the Bruins for another day,t hen why not get as much as possible now, given how deep this draft is suppose to be, rather then just half-ass it.

I happen to think what the Bruins are doing is insane, but whatever.

I wonder if Boston is trying to package Rask, bergeron/krejci and 13-15 picks for #1 overall... Now that would blow people away.

Then Edmonton uses picks from 13-16 to trade for some defence.

- tonye25

If that happened it would make everything worth it.
It wont, but that is a trade that makes Chia pet think for 1 minute...before saying no.

You left out the part where Chia signs Ben Scrivens to a 6 year $45 million extension with a full not trade clause, before saying no.

Lucic deal was better than the Hamilton trade.

At least you will get some good young kids in the system.

Apparently he was offered highers picks in the first rd than the 15. That just makes everything else crazytown without redemption.

I think we all hated him especially after he resigned Krug and Smith two-thirds of the way through the season to more overinflated, ridiculous contracts! That never should have been allowed to happen.
I like the Lucic trade, but whether we trade up and draft Hanafin or not, I don't think he'll be what Hamilton is. Congrats to you guys, you'll love him. You've got a great big 3 on your blueline. The only silver lining for a Bruins fan in this is that Chia will have to watch Hamilton smack his Oilers around more often!

So a GM should never be accountable for a bad trade? That's the logic you're using.

And if I remember correctly, Seguin didn't make a huge contribution in that Cup run (didn't he sit a few games?) He really broke out the year after. So was he the difference? Would they have still won that Cup if Kessel was on the team? I'd say absolutely. There's another huge hole in your logic.

- Jeffmt

Bergeron had a concussion and missed two games...........

Seguin "single handily" won us a game against Tampa.......2 goals and 2 assists I believe.

He was important to us in that series, absolutely.

That's what I find funny when people say what has he won........well he did help us win the Cup for Christ sake.

Martin Jones, plus 13th overall pick and prospect Colin Miller for Milan Lucic

OK, they're keeping 2.7 mil in salary too???? WTF how stupid is this, is it a salary dup or not? Who the F is going to be on the top line?

I'm shocked by this. they just missed the playoffs and they could have tried to unload Chara, Krecji. There has to be more to this. Sweeny is defnitely making a statement today that's for sure.
- Cptmjl

yes.. his statement is..

Ok sure, but my point is that I think Boston would have still won that Cup if you replace Seguin with Kessel. So that trade didn't win them a Cup, which was what the other guy implied.

Some teams just suck as trading.
Wow, what a bad, bad trade for the Bruins.

Three consecutive picks in the middle of the draft is interesting but it's not necessarily good. Let me correct myself, three first rounders in any draft is a good thing (depending on what was given up to get them) but the fact that they're in a row doesn't really mean anything other than that Sweeney is kind of a weird guy.

I would trade #16 for Subban. Rask, Jones, Subban Subban is odd man out and he wants a starters job.

Nope. Your wrong, but we get your point. Toronto lost the trade because after trading for Phil the Thill, the Bruins won the cup, and toronto has made the playoffs, what.. once? Lets move on.
