No pieces in the return for the thornton trade won the cup, Seguin won the cup but was a healthy scratch most of the playoffs, we got fleeced in the Seguin deal and both returns should be long gone before we're good again…..How did Sweeney not take any of this into account? |

Of course but good like replacing what they just lost. Odds are against them. |

Nope. Your wrong, but we get your point. Toronto lost the trade because after trading for Phil the Thill, the Bruins won the cup, and toronto has made the playoffs, what.. once? Lets move on. - 77emac77
Ugh, that's so dumb.
If you would have won the Cup anyway, then winning the Cup doesn't mean you won the trade. You very well may have won the trade, but winning the Cup isn't the reason why. This is pretty elementary logic. |

Not like Thornton won anything either.
I am pretty sure he'll retire cupless. |

Defintely. I agree. Someone was saying that since they're doing well in this draft because they have three picks in a row. My point was that three picks in the first round is good but not because they're all in a row, that's just kind of weird. |

yeah but we haven't had anybody with that kind of talent since except maybe arguably seguin who we also shipped out of town. Meanwhile our lack of speed and finishing ability have taken us from the penthouse to the cellar at record time. |

So they could pull a Vikings and miss the clock, twice, and still be good right?

Bergeron had a concussion and missed two games...........
Seguin "single handily" won us a game against Tampa.......2 goals and 2 assists I believe.
He was important to us in that series, absolutely.
That's what I find funny when people say what has he won........well he did help us win the Cup for Christ sake. - JIwasinskiJr
I'm a bolts fan and Seguin contributed alot in that conference final. That's how remember him. |

Not necessarily, seguin won one of those games in the conf final vs Tampa. Could have lost the series without him. Also, just because Boston blew it years later doesn't mean they lost that trade. They still hosed Toronto, Dougie and Seguin for Kessel? Come on |

so every trade the bruins made the few years prior to the cup win, they won because of that cup?
Boston is left with eriksson,smith,15th overall, couple seconds....from seguin and hamilton |

The worst part is that Tampa, MTL, and Detroit are already better than us.
Ottawa is on the same level.
Now, Buffalo is arguably as good as us too!
So........back to the 90's? |
