I like McQuaid, but I thought it was going to be a lot less to get him signed. And I didn't think it would be for 4 years.
- mixturebill

I know..........

How can anyone think we are a contender right now?

We will be lucky to make the playoffs at this point.

Seriously, Sweeney traded Hamilton and extended McQuaid for 4 years. Honestly???

Are you sure Milbury isn't back calling the shots?

- maaddmike

I'm starting to think they hate Kessel so much they want nothing to do with him, it's the only theory that makes sense.

i think essentially what is signals is rebuild time. lucic will still go, and probably others.
- flyershockey

If that was the case, then why trade your future 1D?

They did picks bc no salary comes back, seems to me they are trying to retool on the fly for another run. Meaning I bet Lucic stays.

Maybe they are looking to take the 14th and 15th and trade for the 3rd overall?

Even then, and honest question. Would Boston rather have Hanfin or Strome right now instead of a 22 year old potentially ready to step in as a top defender?

Sweeney actually gained a 2nd rounder instead of a 3rd from an offer sheet below 7.3

not sayin dealing Hamilton is wise by any stretch, but his return was better than what an offer sheet would've gotten you

Why would you trade away a young defenseman that has proven he can play in the league for a rookie defenseman?

Dougie should have got them so much more!!!

I wouldn't trade Dougie for the #3 overall.

Bad trade!!!

Because of.......the salary cap. If chara's deal expired last year, this deal doesn't happen. This is the salary cap era. They got the best return they could get for a great asset instead of selling low on lucic who has one year left.

You mentioned trade scenarios in a blog. That angered a couple of Flyers fans.

The suicide hotline in Boston must be ringing off the hook right now. That was a very, very, very bad trade! For once in my life I actually feel bad for Boston Bruins fans. Your general manager better have some pretty sweet magic up his sleeve or he could be floating facedown in the river somewhere in Boston later tonight.

I'd rather get poop value for Lucic, than get robbed of one of my franchise players.
- TheCalSen

You didn't get robbed of one of your franchise players ... you traded him away , welcome to the Sweeney Era , and the Gooinz deserve every bit of it ... Karma is a female dog when it pays back .... and when it happens to that organisation all I say is

Shouldn't matter. As a GM you have to figure out a way to make it work. This is getting fleeced in the worst kind of way.

You do understand the salary cap right?

Problem is Chiarelli doesn't and Boston will be cleaning up the mess from his 45 NMC contracts for years to come.
