Originally I was hoping the Avs would pick Kylington or Carlo with the 31st pick but now I'm leaning more toward Paul Bittner. There are so many good defenseman available, they can wait until 40 and still get a really good defenseman. I won't be upset if they take one of the Kylington or Carlo but then I think they'll be forced to take a 2nd defenseman in that round which they don't really need.

At some point, the payout just isn't worth it.

I'm not sure exactly what that number IS with ROR, but $7.5 mil / long-term definitely isn't it.

ROR is a special player and is the sort of guy who can have a goal, an assist, win 75% of his face-offs and at the end of the game you feel like they never even mentioned his name. It seems like he always contributes during clutch situations and rarely ever makes mistakes. I'll be sorry to see him go, but not at that price.

Poor McGinn... It seems like that guy stays injured. When he IS healthy, he is capable of putting up really solid numbers and as others have said, he can slide up and down the lineup and never misses a beat. In some ways, I'm more sorry to see him go than ROR but he really needs to put a few healthy seasons together in order to prove himself.

As far as potential goes, it seems like the Avs got a pretty good deal. If these guys come to camp in shape and ready to play, I think we'll end up being MUCH better off than we would otherwise.

Lots of new faces (and now we have so cap to play with). I'm looking forward to opening night MUCH more now than I was a week ago...

Spot on. Grigo really is the sleeper aspect of this deal though. He is extremely talented and I feel like he never got a fair shake in buffalo playing with spare parts offensively. I think he can come to Colorado and really progress with some offensive talent around him. It also helps that Roy was his coach when he was flourishing. Certainly a good hockey trade for both sides and a very exciting opening night roster. Now go draft Carlo!!!!

It was frustrating to watch Grigo and his usual lackluster efforts. A few minutes here or there, he would show what he's capable of, but that's not what any GM, coach or fan wants to see longterm. The bridge was burned here in Buffalo for that to happen though. He thinks he's owed things when he has proven nothing. If he loses most of the ego, he can become a fringe top 3 for years. Losing the ego is a big if though.

Fine draft, but the Avs left a lot of talent on the board.
