Kase, David LW – Chomutov (CZE 2) – 5’9” 161 HockeyProspect.com Ranking: 150
Kase is a very skilled kid with impressive mobility. He plays an up-tempo style no matter if he is centering his line or covering the wing, where it’s easier to picture him at the next level. He is always active and brings a good compete level on the ice. His defensive efforts as of now don’t pay many dividends in his zone, he is more effective and consistent looking for pucks in the offensive zone. He has good instincts and doesn’t mind entering traffic or going in front of the net looking for loose pucks or rebounds, which he can bury most of the times. With the puck he displays agility and creativity, and executes plays very quickly. These traits help him avoiding checks. His hands and feet are equally fast. On the powerplay he likes to make one touch passes from the right side boards position to surprise the defense.
His offensive numbers have been good, but you would like to see him make more of an impact at the junior level in terms of creating offense. Rarely his skill plays seem to earn him good shooting opportunities and still has to add power to his shot. If it became a legit threat, that might add a new dimension to his offensive game.
He doesn’t show specific favourite plays that he could rely on when trying to make a difference at even strength at the next level. At 5’9”, you have to wonder what kind of impact he could have against NHL defensemen. And if he is not good enough for a top six role, would he be able to adapt his game to the point of becoming a good third liner despite his size? The main thing that he has going for him is that he can do things fast, and can react fast enough to combine with offensive players at the next level. On draft day David might go later than his talent level would deserve, but he’ll certainly hope not to fall as far as his brother Ondrej did last year.
Quotable: “Skilled player but we didn’t feel like he did enough as a small guy to give us a reason to have more faith in him rankings wise.” - Mark Edwards |

So I guess Konecny won the Pierre McGuire award for excellents last night, which to me sounds a lot like the being a ten year old being drawn into the back of a van with candy award.

5'9" 161? Well if hockey doesn't work out, he can always rent a tuxedo and stand atop wedding cakes! |

Why would the Hurricanes trade Khudobin? Who else do they have to play goalie? He wasn't that bad for them was he?
For an aging dman? |

they picked up Eddie Lack so Khodobin became expendable and they need a ton of help on D right away and Wis will help them now, just my guess |
