It's more likely that St. Louis is moving on from Jackman because he's 35. - MJL
I have read otherwise, but i have no issues with you holding onto your "more than likely" if you haven't done any reading and are just offering an opinion based on not reading |

It actually is, if you look at the reasoning behind the comment. It's far more intelligent than thinking that GM's are making decisions based on watching the Cup finals.

I understood quite well. St. Louis has some younger players in Lindholm and Bertuzzo who they traded for, who they want to give a chance, so age is definitely a factor. They also are open to Jackman returning in the right situation.

Does anyone else feel like you just went shopping for some great ingredients for a big festive meal? You got most of the list and are salivating a little.
You watch the cook put the ingredients in and have to wait a few years to eat.
But in the meantime, you can smell it cooking.......... |

haha i hope youre being as facetious as i was.
i dont think the pens d is in awesome shape right now, but the only one i would think schenn would beat out would be scuderi's rotting corpse.
i dont think perron is simmonds equal, but i do think he will hover around 25 to 28 goals this year. not too awful.
probably not too far from where simmer will be. - stayinthefnnet
yeah, tongue definitely in cheek.
at 3.8M, 25-30 goals isn't too bad

Aneheim GM on the Carl Hagelin trade
"We can play with some speed now," the Ducks GM explained. "If you watched Tampa Bay and Chicago, that was pretty quick. You see who's in the finals and you see how we got beat - the speed element of the game is getting bigger and bigger and bigger. So we have to move along with the times, and we got a guy that can really skate"
But maybe you are right. Luke Schenn is probably the next best thing to Duncan Keith |

I know it is difficult to resist the urge, and I couldn't the other day, but let it go
We all know what it is, and he still manages to pick someone off every day |

A little disappointed no Dman was dealt, but I still think they can pick up a 3rd for Grossman, definitely Schenn. |

What is being overlooked is that yea, teams want to get faster, and more skilled, to compete with the better teams in the league. The problem is that can be a long term goal of a GM, but it's not always possible immediately. So they look at the short term and say, if I can't get the ideal player I want, or I have to wait for prospects in that mold to develop and become ready for the NHL, to add that element, what can I do in the short term, with little risk to make my team better and more competitive now? A GM may think we spend a lot of time defending and killing penalties, and we get pushed around a little in out own zone, so maybe I can get a player like Grossmann, to help out in those areas on the short term, while we develop players to try and get a well rounded fast team like Chicago. It's not a utopia where every team has the perfect situation, and deals for the most ideal player, aren't always readily available, so they look at short term stop gap solutions to improve their team any way they can in the mean time. That's why there is still a role in the NHL for players like Grossmann and Schenn.
The statement of Schenn being the next best thing to Keith is just hyperbole. Nothing close to that was stated.
One other thing, the Rangers had Carl Hagelin, and they got beat by TB. |

Look I know you are mad about not trading a Dman and so am I. I wish it happened today for a 2nd or third but it didn't. But to then jump to the conclusion that those guys have no value just isn't sensible. To point out what one GM said related to a forward and team speed just isn't sensible. To point to the cup winner and say see! Well may I suggest that if Luke Schenn or Grossman were on the Black Hawks they would have played more then Kimmo and helped alleviate time from the big two. CHI would have been very happy to have one of those guys this year. They are supporting caste and that is why they may (still) bring back a 2nd or 3rd and not a big pay day. Just my opinion but Bill agrees and that's good enough for me.

Well said, the return may not be that high, or what we want, but they still have value in the league.
