Maybe Hexy is clearing the way not for Kessel, but Phaneuf. Just a thought, send AMac and something else. |

With Sanhiem and Provorov I think it's less likely than ever that we trade for Phanuef. |

is there a comment out there from Hexy that says that buying out Gagner is an option or where cap relief is coming from?
All i can find is this quote:
"they got a good player and we got some cap relief" |

Locker room chemistry. I have a feeling the Grossmann/Pronger trade isn't the end. Realistically, they need to move at least 1, probably 2 dmen and get rid of Vinny. |

Not to be boring, but I doubt any new name players are going to be suiting up the Flyers next season. My guess is Hexy re ups Jake, settles or trades MDZ...and signs a few low risk forwards. Although Im in the opinion that you let Gagner play out his contract year...player with financial motivation is not necessarily a bad thing |

We'll find out soon enough if they announce Gagner has been place on unconditional waivers.

Well, are you expecting MDZ to play over 23 minutes a night in all situations like he was at the end of the year when Coburn was traded? I think there is will be more done to remodel the d core then hope the prospects continue to develop. |

I guess.
I read through the quotes, and I am not so sure that the "cap relief" he was referring to isn't just the Pronger contract headache. |

It's speculation right now, but with a buy out they get an additional $2.6mm in cap space |

I know there were Yotes fans who were confused about the Gagner buyout rumors. A lot of fans thought he had been good, or at least decent. I think he'll be a decent addition. Right handed, and most of his production comes from assists, so he's definitely gonna platy a playmaker role.
Wiki says that we also receive a conditional 3rd or 4th rounder. |

I say Jake, Sanheim, and a 1st. - nails

Yeah.
But that doesn't mean you go out and trade for one of the most bloated contracts in hockey. |

I can see one of three things:
Keep this team, w/ Gagner and resign MDZ and White.
Do the above, trade VL on July 2, resign VdV.
Buy out Gagner and use the savings to buy out Vinny if he can't trade him.
Outside of that, bringing in someone via FA or a trade sounds counter to what the plan is. Seems like waiting until the D men develop and then making a move like that is more of what the plan would be. |

It depends, if your moving AMac's contract as part of the deal. Your paying $2 million more per year, but your getting a better d man who can play in all situations. It just might be the only way to move AMac's contract.
