One thing is pretty clear with Hextall running the show. He is not going to tip his hand. - MJL

Does Gagner's contract structure result in a cheaper buyout than most players with his cap hit? Does his brief "stint" with Tampa make his situation odd with regards to a buyout? |

lower his demands?
Many games he lead the team's D in minutes, played on PK, (not bad for a defensive liability). And he gave our attack a boost pinching in as a high scoring option.
Plus, he's our best skating defenseman right now by far, (excluding the top 5 prospects)
I don't agree, (on his part), he should sign another bridge deal, he proved himself this season, (despite moron Berube scratching him all the time).
And to top it off, he's not 35 years old, he's still only 24.
But what is he asking for? I haven't seen it discussed. |

Does Tampa share some of that since they retained salary when he was traded to the Coyotes? |

With Sanhiem and Provorov I think it's less likely than ever that we trade for Phanuef. - hereticpride
Hextall has just started to get the Flyers out of cap trouble....why the heck would he put them right back in trouble ? They still have to pay Vorecek....they have some other young guys that will haves to be paid in the next couple of years....Hexy will stay the coarse.

@generalfanager
So the buyout cap hits shown on our buyout calculator would actually be split as:
PHI: $422,222 and $555,555
TBL: $211,111 and $277,778 |

If the flyers buy out Gagner he's on tampa's cap for 2 years instead of 1. |

His buyout is 1/3 of his salary because of his age. It's 2/3rds for players over 26.

Berube wasn't a moron for scratching him. That helped Del Zotto fix some issues in his game, and made him a better player.

And don't get too comfortable.
Qualifying offers due: 6/29
Final day for buyouts: 6/30
RFAs can meet w/ teams: 6/30
Free agency opens: 7/1
Looks like we're going to find out whether Gagner gets bought out sooner rather than later |

Your opinion, it didn't take him 12 scratches in a row to understand to watch his pinching, (no offense, but I remember Streit getting caught up ice during many 2 on 1's).
While dressing 2 pylons like Grossmann, & Luke together.
I liked Grossmann, he's a warrior, but you have 2 D men dressed that lack foot speed, while scratching your best skating defenseman?
Especially in the speed of todays game. |

How do you know, Berube was able to watch him in practice, and see the results. I think it was a little too long also, but I'm not around the team on a daily basis. Berube helped Del Zotto adjust his game, and fix an issue that he had. Del Zotto played his way off of the Rangers, Nashville walked away from him, but Berube is moron for sitting him for 12 games. Berube helped Del Zotto become a better player.

By my calculations, the Flyers currently have about $6,745,833 of real cap space. It could be more if they buyout Gagner. They also have an additional 7.4M for the off season 10% exemption to play with. Keep in mind that a lot of that is taken up by players such as Manning, and what they need to carry in the off season for the call ups they made last season. |

You seem to overlook who he's dressing while MDV was sitting every night.
I mentioned it, but all you can do is protect Berube.
It's not like he had faster, more skillful playing options.
He had maturity issues in NY, & Nashville, we all know that, but Berube is a genius for singling him out, while dressing the 2 pylons together?
Edit: Yeah, pinching in too often, that was the issue, he did play much better in the D zone as well. |
