Sandstrom, Felix G – Brynas (SWE Jr.) – 6'2" 191 HockeyProspect.com Ranking: 122

Sandstrom spent the bulk of his season playing in the J20 SuperElit splitting time with Buffalo Sabres draft pick Jonas Johansson. A member of Sweden’s U18 National Team, he also made appearances at the J18 level and saw some action in the SHL this season.

Felix has a big frame that fills the net very well. He has those long legs that he can kick out quickly like paddles from a pinball machine. However, he has tendencies to leave his five-hole open. In his rare SHL appearances he had good composure and looked calm. However, at U18 Worlds he would panic easily and lose his composure. He relies on reacting to plays and struggles with anticipating threats. He has a good glove and wingspan allowing him to get a good reach and pull pucks in. He has great push lines, finding his post and filling the middle. Sandstrom has the necessary footwork at the U20 level to be successful but needs to improve on power and squareness to move up to the next level. He has the foundation to be a top goalie, but his game sense is an area that needs to improve. With more consistent game time next year, that area should see significant improvement.

Quotable: “I thought he had some ugliness at the U18 but I have always liked his potential. Samsonov stole some of his thunder in Switzerland.” – Mark Edwards

Watched an interview/ presser with provorov, kid seems extremely intelligent (not just hockey smart), he seems poised & confident, super excited to see how he develops over the next few years. Anybody think there's a chance he makes it out of camp? I'd like to see him get a few years in the ahl, but if he's ready, so be it. DOubt he is though.

Is he eligible for the AHL? I'm not really sure how it works with people not from Canada

To be honest, I'm not really sure how the eligibility works for any of the junior or minor leagues. He could play in the nhl obviously if the team deemed him fit yeah?
