And Philly gets a draft pick
How the hell did Arizona agree to this?
Grossman is AVERAGE... at best
Ganger is the best player in the deal, by far
And does that franchise really have $$$ to dish out to a guy that won't even play?
Tank on Arizona
I hope they actually win the lotto this year...
They need it - jdfitz77
Pronger's contract is mostly paid by insurance.
His actual salary is 575k this and next year.
It's a cap floor move. Something the Islanders had done for years. |

Hopefully by the time that ROR is at the Hossa stage of his career The Cap is significantly higher and it equals out. - JCSabs06
I am not so sure of it but everyone seems to think it will be $80M in 5 years. If that happens i think we see another lock out but we can talk about that when the next CBA is up. |
|
|
|
I don't think we can. Per the CBA:
Maximum contract length of seven (7) years subject to Club’s ability to re-sign its own Player for a term of up to eight (8) years (provided the Player was on the Club’s Reserve List as of the most recent Trade Deadline). With respect to potential Unrestricted Free Agents only, the option to re- sign a Player for an 8-year term expires with the opening of Free Agency on July 1. - HonkFortheGoose
So we could give him 8 years after next years trade deadline is how I'm understanding that then. |

You have to own his rights for a calendar year. 6/27/16. It would be dumb to wait to extend him a few days before free agency. |

The Flyers are gonna buy out Gagner. Clearly a move to create cap space. |

I'll bite...
It doesnt matter who we drafted at 21 or 31. They would not be NHL players for a few years. We upgraded the team, and insulated our 2 elite prospects by acquiring a stud NHL proven talent. We're set for the next 8-10 years with ROR-Eichel-Reinhart that Grigorenko, Compher, Kocecny, whoever -- it doesnt matter.
I generally didnt see a pressing need for ROR, but wasnt completely against the idea. I'd rather have ROR over Hamilton.
Agree about Lehner. I liked Talbot, and wouldve taken Lack over him. Both came with cheaper price tags.
ROR contract wont hurt our structure. Chicago has a core of 8 players that they won 3 cups with. All sharing larger salaries for the 2nd and 3rd cups.
ROR provides more than offense. Hes a puck possession hog. Hes a smart player. He plays defense. He plays the most important position and plays it well. He can shut down other teams best players. ROR is 3x more valuable than Callahan. $7M today and in 3 years wasnt what $7M was 4-5 years ago. $7M has become the new $5M... elite guys will be getting $10M + - theblueandgold
It does matter who we draft!!!
Not only has Murray himself said a million times that u have to build through the draft...
But to use your Chicago example...
Think they would've won a 2nd or even 3rd Cup if they didn't have guys coming up the pipeline to replace guys tey had to let walk BC of salary?
If ROR makes 7.5miland scores something like 22g-33a
What are guys like Eichel, Kane, Reinhart, Ennis & even Girgensons gonna ask for when they hit similar (or better) stats?
You don't have to sell me on ROR the player...
I was the FIRST on here, THREE YEARS AGO, saying we should trade for the guy
It's the $$$
We better hope the Cap starts going up
Will getting 1billion in revenue from the expansion team fees affect the Cap?
And we gotta replace Zadorov now
That's a HUGE hole IMO
The only other LH defenseman we have that's a significant part of the future here is McCabe
We have 15 nhl forwards right now
Seems to me like Foligno &/or Larsson could be the trade bait
As far as Hamilton vs ROR goes,
It's Hamilton ALL DAY
plus we wouldn't have had to give up Zadorov
Imagine this defense...
Hamilton-Ristolainen
Zadorov-Bogosian
McCabe-Pysyk
For the next 10+ years!!!
Holy Crap
That would've been amazing

Yeah that would be dumb. Murray is going to get this and Eichel knocked out in the next couple of days. I hope hes interviewing LD's too though.
I thought as long as we owned his rights with his current contract we could sign 8 years. Kind of an odd restriction. |

They are still building through the draft. Even with everything they moved this weekend, they still drafted 6 guys. Defense is our biggest hole in the lower ranks right now. They used 4 of the 6 picks on defensemen. |

They acquired 4 pieces of their core through the draft (kane, toews, keith, and seabrook) They made some key trades and signings. And they bring in vets on expiring or one year deals. Its pretty much exactly what Buffalo is trying to do. |

I've been in Lancaster by MEBESABRESFAN a ton this year replacing all the damage from heavy equipment during Snovember paid for by FEMA.
Aurora, Lake , William area.
Where are ya MEBESABRESFAN?

I did get New Corner Sidewalks Very Nice better than what our local DPW can do, what are the raised dots for? I was told they are for the blind? But I'm not sure, but they did an excellent job of creating an apron, I live on the Corner House, Lakeside Crescent, in sight of Como Lake and Lighthouse. Somebody also poured and layed topsoil and grass seed for me all along my double lot.
Was that you guys? |

Not really sure why people are bringing up Hamilton's name as someone we should have went after. By all accounts Boston turned down better offers and the only reason you do that is to get him out of your division/conference. |
