Are we going after a UFA dman or a trade? - Mentalorgasm5
D man but I think he's looking to sign 1 or 2 July 1st I was told, maybe try and swing a deal. Let's see what happens with Hodgson and if Legwand stays or goes on waivers. |

Murray was very indifferent about Compher. I heard him say it in an interview. He liked Baptiste a lot, Bailey too. He said Compher, he hadn't made up his mind about. - sippyd
Fair enough
He obv knows more than me
But I'll take the big10 freshman of the year & guy who just got named captain of michigan over guys like Karabacek & Cornel who were disappointing this year
(All 3 picked in early-mid 2nd) |

Nothing on Gibson, he seems to want to go with Lehner and I don't agree with that. - SABRES 89
Concussion concerns or just don't like him? |

Maybe he tried to pawn them off, to no avail. Who knows?

And, that is why I am still furious about him giving up our 21st pick for this unknown goalie with concussion issues!
And, now I hear we are also on Gibson!!
So, why did we even go for Lehner?
It make absolutely ZERO sense!!! - Sabresfan88
Where'd u hear this about Gibson?
He's the guy I wanted all along |
|
|
|
Yes, we need a top pairing veteran.... Sekera, Ehrhoff, Martin, Oduya
???-Bogo
Gorges-Risto
Weber-Pysyk
Ruhwedal - theblueandgold
I see it as
Ristolainen ???
Bogosian ????
Gorges Pysyk
Weber
Which is why I still see them in the bottom ten (probably closer to 10) |

I think McGinn will stay...you? But I can't see him beyond this year as his $ will be too high, especially with Baptiste and/or Bailey possibly ready to take that 3rd line role at a cheaper rate. |

I'd go UFA. There are a few available that won't cost us more picks/prospects. I'm not concerned with age (i.e. Oduya), as I think it is more of a stop gap anyway. |

Yes but you are worrying about guys who might work out, when we landed two guys we now that will, Kane and O'Reilly, and one guy who has shown flashes, Lehner.
I am not sure if people truly understand how bad the odds are in the draft, even the odds of the 1st round. Its nowhere near as high as the NFL. - Mentalorgasm5
Like I've said all along...
It's not ROR the player, it's IF he'll sign & for how much?
Loved the Kane trade
Lehner was a severe overpayment. Really bad trade IMO. We even took back salary, so that implies he was worth more than just a 1st. Seems crazy to me |

O'Reilly will sign. Taking back the cap is meaningless l. We have so much, it's a moot point. |

@THNKenCampbell: Bob Murray on John Gibson: "John Gibson is not getting traded. So put that (expletive) out there, OK. That's enough."
I'm pretty sure we aren't in on Gibson....
Also nobody on these boards knows Lehner better than Tim Murray. You don't have to like the trade, I'm not a fan either, but the trade itself does make sense. He got a goalie under 25 he feels can be a number 1 on a contending team.
I'm not saying you have to like it, but to say it doesn't make sense isn't true if you've listened to what Murray has said he is trying to build. - Stripes77
What he have up doesn't make sense
And I think that other guy was saying it doesn't make sense to go after Gibson as well
I heard the Ducks GM quote...
But why trade for Khudobin?
They aren't gonna carry 3 goalies
Weird |

Uncle Murray knew how much nephew Murray wanted Lehner, in the same division, he took TM to school and got a great deal, but if Lehner is the Sabres starting goaltender in the playoffs in 2-3 years and takes us on a run deep in the playoffs does it matter?
Listening to TM's comments on Lehner he really really likes him and has a ton of confidence. I did see a few national writers on twitter say it again that just like trading Bishop the Sens are trading the wrong goalie again. |

To back up Gibson...
The Sabres aren't going after Gibson. That came from Eklund, remember the rule when it comes to him when he is the only one to "report" anything. |

We have tha much now...
We won't when Ennis, Reinhart, Kane, Eichel, Girgensons, Bogosian, Ristolainen & Lehner (if he works out) all need big $$ deals within the next 5yrs
The Cap will absolutely be an issue
Look at all the teams up against it right now
Like I said...
I'm looking ahead |

Honestly, I wouldn't mind him. We really need a PP QB - even though I know his #'s have been down lately.
As long as it's not more than 3 years (which it probably will have to be, I know). |

Regardless of how strongly Murray feels, Lehner is still far from a sure thing
I do like his potential though
And yes, it does matter if we keep giving up 1sts when we should be giving up 2nds
Sometimes the best deal is to not make one |

All of that means that the next 2 drafts 2016 and 2017 Murray needs to hit on just like Chicago had hit on theirs to replace their role players.
If Chicago can pay Crawford, Kane, Toews, Hossa, and Keith (and win 3 Cups in the process) the Sabres can make it work as well |

Agreed, but Murray believes and sees something we don't. Remember the best goaltender in the league in many peoples eyes hasn't won a cup...but Corey Crawford had 2!
