Murray wasn't playing that game at all and he won't, why do you think Hodgson's camp is in contact with Murray for everything Hodgson's doing this offseason. They know what can happen but in Gringo's case his camp thought they knew better and they let Murray know it. Everyone can see where that went. - SABRES 89
Eh good riddance then |

I can't see how there are 29 other teams in the NHL and you mean to tell me that we can't trade Hodgson to a team that needs him without buying him out ? This kid is worth something if they decide to cut him loose. |

Murray has already said he likes Foligno, I think he said it in a few interviews last year. |

We can't have it both ways. We can't decide all outgoing players are garbage, but the one remaining player we want gone(from a very long list) suddenly should be valuable to someone. That contract is a biatch. We couldn't give him away for free. He's the #1 Center that isn't. |

The thing about Cody is he's signed through 2019 and his salary cap goes up each year
4.000 4.500 5.000 5.500
Even if a team want's to take a flyer on him that's too many years and too much money commitment for a risk. |

Anyone want to make bold predictions on how the division will play out?
1.TBL
2.Mon
3.FLA
4.Ott
5.Buff
6.Bos
7.Det
8.Tor - Cheeseballin
Detroit 7th?!
I'd say more like 3rd, if not higher
They'll be neck & neck with Montreal IMO
Other than that, I agree
I think Ottawa, Boston & us will all be within a few points of each other... Tough to predict the order of those 3, but I'd go with your order if I had to guess |

Salary Cap # NEVER changes...
It's always the average of the total salary divided by the length of the deal
Hodgson's deal isn't bad at all...
If we can play him with decent linemates next year & he scores 20goals again
Then we should be able to get a decent prospect or a 2nd, possibly some draft pick / prospect combo even
As of now, his value is prob pretty low BC he had such a bad year
I'd just keep him
If for some reason he doesn't work out,
He can be one of the guys we expose in the expansion draft if he's still around |

I would have just signed a UFA or given up a 3rd for Talbot.
I actually don't hate the O'Reilly deal too much as long as he resigns - sbroads24
Honestly, most of the goalies are interchangeable, but Lehner is cheap cap hit for 2 years and then rfa so fairly cheap after that. Others are high cap hits (ufa now) or next year. Murray said he does not want to spend a lot of $ on goalie.
I did not love giving up a 1st for 22 year old goalie, but drafting one sets us back 4 years (or waiting, so need to sign another for a bit of $). Murray has a great plan, just wait for the opening roster next year, we will all be in awe compared to the opening night roster last year. |

I really think this trade has gotten far too much attention and far too much criticism.
Here are the guys who have been taken at 21 since 2000.
2013 Frederik Gauthier
2012 Mark Jankowski
2011 Stefan Noesen
2010 Riley Sheahan
2009 John Moore
2008 Anton Gustafsson
2007 Riley Nash
2006 Bob Sanguinetti
2005 Tuukka Rask
2004 Wojtek Wolski
2003 Mark Stuart
2002 Anton Babchuk
2001 Colby Armstrong
2000 Anton Volchenkov
Only about 1/3 of those guys made any impact whatsoever in the league. The question isn't whether Lehner is worth the 21, it's whether we could have gotten more with the 21 by shopping elsewhere.
Given what we managed to acquire on draft day, I'll say this: we may have found a better bargain somewhere else, but the marginal utility of all that shopping isn't enough to merit all the kvetching and bridge jumping that has gone on all weekend.
Let's move on, please.

if murray flipped legwand for a second rd pick at the deadline, would there still be all this female doging on the trade? |

From what I heard:
Hodgins will be bought out
Legwand will be kept. He's one year removed from a pretty decent year, was targeted by Buffalo a year ago and with an expiring contract can be dealt at the deadline for something
We will sign another goalie to backup lehner. Obvious as we need a goalie in Rochester. It won't be a big name goalie as gmtm is intent on allowing lehner to be the goalie. It'll be someone who can play 20-30 games and be effective. We never talked to Ana about Gibson as we dont want someone to challenge lehner
Don't expect any more big trades as we dont want to give up next years 1st or 2nd (draft in Buffalo). Still looking for our lhd, doubtful by trade, more likely by UFA. Weak UFA lhd class, sekera is a target. Former Sabre but new gm/coach so no ill feelings.
Don't be surprised if you see a lw back who be traded at the deadline last year |

No. As a matter of a fact, I think that will happen. Don't put him on waivers, plug him into 3rd and 4th line center duties and a trade to a contender at the deadline. |

Yes - some would complain that it wasn't higher in that round (not that we'd get a second for him anyway, of course). |

What are the odds that Grigorenko makes it the whole year in the NHL on that team? If they send him down at any point is he waiver eligible? |

Good post. I can see them signing Lindback. The way the D looks they could end up signing two LD and gotta think guys like Sekera and possibly Beauchemin could be targets. Not sure what LW you are referring to.
The D for next year
Gorges-Risto
Sekera-Bogo
Beauchemin-Pysyk
Weber
McCabe might need more time in Rochester.
edit- the only winger available that we dealt at the deadline last season was Chris Stewart. |

I hope he (Eichel) pans out cause the Sabres got screwed on the #1 pick. It will be interesting to see how the 2 play this year. McDavid has better talent around him. They could both be a huge asset to the NHL and help with expansion.
I predict in 15/16:
McDavid
65 gp
22 goals
31 assists
Eichel
79 gp
21 goals
40 assists |

Think he has a no trade but you never know because he's from Grimsby which in 35 min down the road from Buffalo. |

I believe he has a ntc. Canucks got cap issues and will have to move either Bieksa or Hamhuis. |
