What about going after Gio ?
He'd be 31 or 32 I think.
Their future top 2 is obviously Hamilton and Brodie, and Russell is no sl9uch. With them drafting Kylington I think they are gearing up to let him walk if he wants too much - sbroads24
I believe he is asking for something like 9 mill a year. |

So what does everybody think about our picks 2-7? Hits/misses, hidden gems, projects/long shots, you get the point. - sskkoo1
Seems to be buzz around Devante Stevens. The fact that Bylsma and our head scout absolutely think he will be an NHL player is encouraging. I like Guhle a lot as well. I don't think there's much correlation between testing high at the combine and turning into a serviceable NHL player, but the guy has monster leg strength and you'd think everything he needs can be taught.

Why not just take it for what it is, a 1st rounder for a goalie. It's not a great move. And until ROR, 95% agreed.
With Murray's agrrssiveness, he's bound to get burned every once and a while.
Not to mention, Colorado turned the 31st pick into two 2nd's, so by this logic we gave up 2 2nd's plus Grigo, Zads and Compher for O'Reilly and McGinn. |

Right, just like we didn't make a 3 team trade for Lehner and O'Reilly. One of the trades is moronic, the other actually is pretty good if O'Reilly resigns. |

Anyone have an estimate on what Mark Pysk will be payed?
As an RFA he is eligible to be Offer-Sheet, Darcy knows how good he is.
I wonder if not bringing him up last year was two/fold, we didn't want his talent up there, and it would not help at all if he put in 60 solid games playing on Top 5 D-NHL.......
Just some thoughts |

Richards' cap hit now will linger through 24-25 season. Lombardi has done many things right but passing on compliance buyout was big mistake
Everyone but the Kings knew this last year. Ouch. |

You seem like a person I'd have no problem having drinks with, so don't take this to heart but.......
So is your sh!tty whinny attitude about everything lately.
Life is to short to consistently complain about things you have zero control in.
Murray turned 5 question marks(3 of which are 2-5 years away if ever, Grigs has KHL on the brain, and Zads whom has top 2 potential but might be to into himself) into a Top line player, 2 top 9 players, and a question mark at goalie. |

I really think its the Buffalo attitude. Which is understandable...
The Sabres could win the cup and people will be mad they didn't win it on home ice
The Bills could win the Super Bowl and people would get mad it was only by a touchdown.
It is what it is. |

My favorite is "we're never going to be able to pay all of these good players".

Hi fellow Sabres fans. I've been a reader/viewer of HB for a while but just recently became a member as you can probably tell... I can see I'm a little late but I really liked this blog. Lots of moves by the Sabres this past weekend and I suspect there are more to come in the offseason. Looking forward to reading more and discussing things with you guys! Exciting times ahead... |

I went to a boarding school in PA for high school, and there were a number of Canadians that went to it. They all said that in Canada you were taught to play with your strong hand on top of your stick. I have no idea how widespread that really is up there, though. - buffalofan19
I may have used the wrong stick my whole life. I write and throw with my right hand, golf right, bat right and use a left handed stick.. So, like Canadians I put my stronger hand on top of my stick.

Still no Hodgson on buyout yet.
Murray is trying to move him IMO - Stripes77
Well yeah, it'd be silly not to. We know him, no asset is worth losing for nothing. Even Mitchell... 7th rounder and an AHL enforcer.
I think Cody absolutely has value in this league somewhere. Arizona should be making a play for him. He's only had one bad year. Retain half that contract and get a 3rd. |

You see something that 30 general managers don't see. I'm sure we would give him up for nothing and retain salary and there still aren't any takers.

Ahh what a great couple of days to be a sabres fan. Away for the weekend but payed enough attention to know what happened.
Had high hopes for zadorov but i love the oreilly trade. Makes for sure we are targeting a top 4 if not top 2 left dman now, i hope through free agency. Couple that with a quick learning curve for everything to mesh we are absolutely pushing for the playoffs this coming season.
While i still dont care much for the lehner deal i love the way pachla broke our rebuild down. This year looks like a normal draft with 7 picks taken yet we came away with 3 young NHL players, two of them who have established high skill at their positions.
The real cherry on top i will say is both eichel and reinhart. If he isnt already, eichel will become the best player on the team while everyone else is in their prime ready to compete immediately. Reinhart has no pressure to become the top line C for the franchise and will eventually make a living with o'reilly, a dynamic duo of two way dynamos shutting down the leagues top players on a nightly basis creating nightmare matchups for opposing dmen.

I was glad to see them take so many defensemen too. But this kid at 51 seems to be a beast and you just can't teach athleticism. I think he'll be a nice piece in 3-4 years. I hope that Goregio Esteban kid makes it someday just for his name alone. - sskkoo1
He's got 2 more years in JRs, then at least 2yrs in the AHL
He's prob a 3rd pair guy if he eventually makes it here |
