Reinhart cannot skate and his size only mattered when he was a foot taller than everyone else in the WHL. Now that he's about 2 inches taller than everyone else in the pros it does not matter. Ty Wishart 2.0. Terrible pick by Snow in 2012 (since about a half-dozen other defensemen picked after him in that 1st round are stars in the making). You can't draft purely for size at 4th overall. Good move salvaging something for him. If the Oilers expect anything out of him in the near future, lotsa luck with that. |

OEL is so amazing that Chris Pronger is ignoring medical advice in order to play with him.

So it sounds like Arizona planned on buying out Gagner. Why? |

Are you Richard Cloutier? Oilers were going to win 5 cups while Gagner center the top line. |

meh. cant say im the least bit surprised.
tried to argue with mr. tanner about gagners plethora of shortcomings, but as usual he wouldn't have it.
very weak skater for someone so small. very weak defensively. very weak on the dot. average shot. good hands and good character. im sure theres some obscure, useless stat that can be cherry picked to show how effective he actually is.......
put him on the wing on the 2nd line and surround him with lots of talent and size and he might be effective |

So if Pronger gets activated in order to hit the cap floor, does that mean he has to forfeit his job with the league? |

Both teams will be great to watch. With so many bad teams on the rise, it's going to be interesting to see who falls. I can't see Vancouver, Calgary or SJ being Playoff teams at this point.........not that I see AZ making it, but Edmonton will for sure. LA will be back. - James_Tanner
Did Calgary get worse by adding Hamilton? They did make the 2nd rd last year and I dont see any fair argument saying they will miss completely this year. |

He'd technically been active with the Flyers during the off season so I'd say no.
Plus I don't think anyone really cares. |

The Sam Gagner era never begun for anyone but you.
He played exactly as I expected him to...he's an average to good player, who had spurts (with Edmonton) where he exceeded his natural ability but that was the exception, not the rule, and you expected that to be his normal play. |

Grossmann is a big body that clears the front of the net and is going to make life much easier for Smith. He's not a puck mover, he's just a pain to play against keeping large power forwards from going into those scoring areas. Grossmann get's a lot of crap because of the posssesion numbers, but I'd have rather traded Schenn or MacDonald cause Grossmann brings a lot of intangibles to the party as well. The problem with the trade from the Yote's side... is that it's increasingly obvious that hitting the cap floor is the goal here. |

no, only guys that get lots of points are valuable.
nothing else matters/this whole size, physicality and dependable forecheck defender nonsense is just a myth uve created through confirmation bias and conventional thinking. defence in hockey isn't neccesary |

Does it work in reverse as well? Is Grossman actually really good because his reputation sucks? |

well yeah.
some other people on the internet have said as such and even used charts which unequivocallyproves the point. so basically youre just a sheep that only listens to what the so called experts say. if they say grossman isn't very good, this again is because theyre just using tired conventional wisdom |

Is Sam Gagner the reason Nick Merkley slid so far in the draft? Merkley sounds a bit to me like a Sam Gagner 2.0. At least the Yotes have some insurance on that trade.
#JamesTannerPrediction :
Merkley scores 70 points next season while leading the Coyotes into the playoffs...
