i don't want any of those (frank)ing guys. no thanks. - hammarby31
Hint; You werent one of the ones I was accusing of not having caught on yet.
Also, I wouldnt want any part of Kessel or Phaneuf even if they didnt carry ridiculous term and money.
Oshie... under other circimstances, I might have interest.
I don't think the Flyers should be moving assets that are worth keeping. They should be moving contracts that they can't afford or may not be able to afford next season in the event of the cap contracting.

I thought the preliminary estimate was $73 million? NHLNUMBERS uses $71.5 million as the cap. |

I do like Oshie at the right price...
But..
One guy I find interesting is Seabrook.
Will the Hawks let him walk next year?
Can they afford him?
Will they pay him more than Keith ( that would not be right)
Instead of all this Kessel talk, which I pray is not true. If the Flyers were going to trade assets I would look at the possibilities of someone like Seabrook.

I wasnt clear. When I said next year, I didnt mean this coming season, I meant the following season. Apparently the NHLPA voted to use the cap escalator this season, which will increase the cap. The following season is totally up in the air.

I find it somewhat tricky and confusing, and my grasp of the details are fuzzy. But, it doesnt look promising. |

11. In the Stanley Cup celebration, Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman jubilantly told Brent Seabrook he wasn’t going anywhere. All of the attention is on Marcus Kruger, Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp. But Bowman is well-aware of Seabrook, who can be a UFA next summer. The two sides have talked and don’t be surprised if Chicago makes this a big priority in the next few weeks.

Thanks, I never saw that or heard of any Seabrook talk. It will be interesting to see how the Hawks arrange their cap |

The interesting thing is that his cap hit is already more than DK. And it isn't going to go lower.

too much money, too much term for a guy who doesnt play a 200 ft game, of which the new coach and the GM are very fond.

I like him, but I'm not interested in trading a ton of assets for a 27 year old with an $8mm contract |

FA is so weak, unless you have something cooking with Michael Frolik, to me, you might as well see if Gagner can be a set-up man for Simmonds as ES
I am no capologist, but one year of Sam Gagner on the books can't be something that prevents them from doing something else they might want to do - AllInForFlyers
I think because of the weak FA class, you target a Frolik you're overpaying...might as well see what Gagner can do.
However, I'm fine with a trade for a bigger ticket, provided it's for a younger guy on a ELC or bridge deal, who fits in. No big ticket/superstar guy with a huge contract, just a solid middle six winger.
Maybe you buy out Gagner and see who is still unsigned by late July, and then make a cheap signing for a one year deal. See if you can find a MDZ or Tom Gilbert up front. |
