am i the only one or would Mike Richards be a great pick up for us right now? after he is bought out maybe we can sign him for like $2M, he would be a perfect guy for the playoffs. he isnt a top 2 line player anymore, but he still does the little things well.

And can people stop coming up with Nash Trades?

- richardson30

The problem with Richards is he has been a lazy player the last two years. Not sure if he is trustworthy at this point. Last season he promised the LA GM he would get in better shape and come ready to work. Look at how that worked out. I have always liked him as a player but Jimbo is right at this point I wouldn't offer him more then a training camp tryout.

that works. i just think he has the type of character and grit that we need. we need our Cally type player back, at a cheaper cost.

The problem is I think another team that is desperate will offer him a contract. The Rangers don't have the cap space to take the risk. I just don't see him coming to New York.

Yea all the talk last night was pissing me off cause its a big pipe dream. It would never happen unless the Rangers offer someone like McDonagh.

I just think there are some people who think Schwartz isn't good enough to get in a trade for Nash. And we call those people crack smokers.

Probably going to be 1 more minor FA signing and they are going to call it a day. Thats my guess.

Schwartz is a stud but Nash as the return isn't exactly chopped meat. It's a pipedream due to the salary cap though.

I think Hagelin being traded made the chances of Nash being traded much less.

I was picturing Nash going for a guy who made about 4.5 million or so and using the savings to help get the RFA's signed.

I still think there is somewhat of a chance a trade with St Louis, I would absolutely trade Nash straight up for Jaden Schwartz in a second, but after this weekend I feel less of a chance Nash is going anywhere.

Exactly my thoughts.. if you're trading Nash you would think that a guy like Hagelin that fit the system so well would stay.

God I'm still so depressed hes gone

Maybe. It obviously makes Schwartz more attractive but Nash is still a level or 2 above of Schwartz in terms of skill and talent.

St. Louis' problem has been the lack of a game breaking forward until Tarasenko emerged. They have great depth but were missing that one superstar. I don't know if Nash is really a need for them now with Tarasenko emerging but I think St. Louis would be interested and Schwartz isn't too far fetched of a return. It's once you start adding Oshie or Steen and just consider the cap in general that it becomes a pipedream.

28 goals and 65 points as a 22 year old....I think Schwartz will be a star

The only positive i came out with after the draft was this, the rangers with MSL and Hags not coming back are immediately bigger. that isnt necesarrily a great thing as they may have lost some speed, but MSL was slow and small. Etem is a bigger guy so like i said the only positive thing is we are a little bigger... Hopefully the young kids will make a big step this year.

I think they would like to get rid of Berglund, that might be a route to take if they were to actually talk

I was the one getting crap for being one of the last Nash defenders. Just think if Nash was traded it wouldn't be for Schwartz.

I think if you are looking at it outside of salary and age, yeah, definitely a fair or somewhat fair deal. If i'm St Louis though, as much as I like Nash, I wouldn't do that deal.

Age, cap, potential and Nash's playoff numbers would play a huge factor. I like Nash, if the Rangers can't find a stud trade I hope they keep him. But I am just saying Schwartz is a wet dream at this point
