still not sure i see Lindberg making the team. its not because i dont think he can play, because i do, its just that we have 4 good centers. Hayes NEEDs to play at Center he is a natural center and should be played there, as such there is no room for Lindberg unless he plays wing which i think he is better as a C so there might be a logjam there...
- richardson30

I like Hayes in the middle but moving him to the wing will let him get some top 6 time.

For some reason I follow Arthur Staple

@StapeNewsday If you were to buy a non-Tavares #Isles jersey, what current player has the best chance of being with the team long term?

No buyout for Mike Richards. @lakings terminate contract for a material breach of the requirements of his Standard Player’s Contract. Wow

It's not ridiculous when we still have room to wiggle but I'm no Hickey fan. I'd rather they let the guy walk.
- Cptmjl

Yeah, he is still an ok NHLer. Nothing special but not useless. Was just jerkin your gerkin.

Oh I know you were I was just really hoping we'd move on from Hickey though. Some in our fan base completely over value the guy. Unfortunately management does as well.

Fine, but I don't want to hear 1 person on this blog female dog and moan about getting a big strong center. We finally have 1 who has so much potential to grow. Useless to stick him on the wing.

not really, Thomas was crazy, not hurt long term... there was still a possibility of him playing, Pronger is about to be voted into the HOF, there is no way he can come back and play. they should adjust the CBA to allow players hurt long term to retire and get their money, but not hit the cap as much.
- richardson30

Dude he sat out the whole year. They traded for him right at the deadline after he sat out for 6 months everybody knew he wasn't playing that year. Only difference was Thomas was a 1 year deal where as Pronger still has 2 years left. Isles took the cap hit to keep them at the floor in case they made a trade knowing Thomas wasn't playing and was suspended and that's why they made the deal

Thought Step was as 42, either way, Stepan takes way more draws than Hayes and statistically he is one of the worst in the league. If we can all live with that, I can live with a rookie becoming better in the dot.

I think Yandle could possibly agree to sign long term with our other long term contracts on the blueline.

I don't think the Rangers would make him the highest paid defenseman on the team if that's what it came down to though.

If he insists on 6 million plus a year, he will probably be traded eventually

- jimbro83

Not sure I agree. Yandle is not an RFA like the other long term deals, and will probably score double if not more than your next dman. He may not be the best defensively but he's also doing the job of a forward if he's putting up 50-60pts. That in itself could make him the highest paid. And also natural contract inflation. A contract signed in 2016 will more than likely be higher than a contract signed in 2013. Of course its an IF, but if he's scoring 15 goals on the PP plus 40 assists, and being a Dman at the same time, I think gets $6M.

I'm more inclined to let Moore play wing and we can use him and Lindberg as faceoff specialists.

Zucc Brass Nash
Kreider Stepan Miller
Etem Hayes Fast
Glass Lindberg Moore

I agree if Lindberg has potential and can make the team, let him start as the 4th line center. Moore can easily switch to a wing. He is an incredibly smart player.

I have no doubt he'd get 6 million plus somewhere else, I think he'll need to take less if he wants to stay here

Depending on what Richard's issue is, the NHLPA has to fight this. Otherwise it opens up the door for all teams.
