I think Skjei's cap hit would be 575k.

Our only alternative is to trade Girardi. His softness has become an issue, you guys

THANK YOU!!People saying we cant win with Sather are just blinded by how much they dislike the trades that just happened. This can be the complete opposite of the Montreal trade????? Really, do people really believe what they actually post.

Seriously..... Such negativity here. We must of really had some bad years. You'd think we were the Florida Panthers.

I think a lot of the Rangers problems can be solved by finding away to move Dan Boyle. I know he has a no trade clause, but the Rangers have found a way to get guys to waive before, for the right location of course. I like Boyle more than most, but his $4.5 million deal is cap inhibiting for this year, and he has been rendered somewhat superfluous by Yandle. Of course, trading Boyle creates a righty lefty in balance, but I think the Rangers can either give McIlrath a legitimate shot, or trying playing a guy on the opposite side.

Trading Boyle would both open up opportunities for McIlrath and Skjei, and allow the Rangers to pursue someone up front that can replace the production lost with Hagelin and St. Louis.

To me, I think the Rangers have to explore whether he would waive.

I heard they may try and buy him out... i think they would still have a sizeable cap hit from that but enough so that one of the kids can make the lineup.

It really all comes down to Step, if he asks for $7M we are screwed, if he signs for the same as Brass we are all good.

Cap friendly says $575k also, $925 seems more accurate

Why is it so taboo to say Sather (frank)ed up, he had a gift wrapped 9th overall pick, it's OK they won't take away our jerseys

I don't think Stepan would get 7 million, even in arbitration. His only shot at getting that kind of money is an offer sheet.

I think he'll be in the 6 years 36 million range. Hopefully it's painless

Meh I think you're not giving Klein enough credit for how big of a loss he would be on the blueline. We're trying to win the cup within the next year or 2 so Klein helps us more there than that 9th overall pick.

Why would the Kings waive Mike Richards, only to "terminate" him now, 2 days later? Has any more info been released?
- steponmytoe

They had to in order to terminate the contract. It was a formality. They notified teams, and the NHL prior to doing so as a "Hey don't pick this guy up"

They also were in trade talks and ended them immediately, and apologized to teams stating "Hey we just were notified of this incident, we aren't bumholes so just end all your internal discussions about a trade"

that is what is interesting. Kings found out about this "thing" and didn't try and pull a fast one on people. It was a border control issue.. hate to speculate but that can only mean one thing for them to go this far..

I actually wrote 925k then went to capfriendly to try and see if he has bonuses and only says 575k and no bonuses so I changed my post. Bonuses are up to $3M extra but they're hard to earn. I don't think Hayes earned a single one of his bonuses.

Surprised we aren't hearing any free agent destinations yet, feel like last year we knew where 50% were going on June 30th

I would much rather have had Yakupov than the 9th pick. Honestly I would rather have Klein than the 9th pick. This team is still in a win now mode.

I understand they can terminate the contract, but they shouldn't be able to terminate the cap hit. Esp for a player they buried in the minors last year.

This free agent class kind of blows. I don't think teams are really chomping at the bit to overpay for someone.

that's why there is a lot of speculation about RFA offer sheets.

Maybe this is the summer it finally breaks out

Since the Rangers don't have a 1st round pick next year, I doubt they can get involved?

yeah, the only way the Rangers will be involved in offer sheets is if one of their own players signs one

With the moves made so far I would be more inclined to say they've adjusted their stance, they chose to take multiple later picks rater than the 1 elite pick

Tim Murray seems to not give a flying (frank) about perception or unspoken rules.

I am predicting he offer-sheets Saad as others have said. But that will be the only one you see. But if I am a betting man, I see him doing it. Just makes too much (frank)ing sense.
