Gropp was Barzal's teammate. He became Seattle's go-to offensive player when Barzal went down to injury.

midterm he was the 17th ranked European skater of the draft, moved up to 8th in final rankings.

Seems more people excited for him than Gropp

- jimbro83

I really like what i heard about that Gropp kid too, uses his body to protect the puck well, good shot.. both kids sound like good prospects. too bad they will prob be traded for an aging player that wont help us....

I am curious if he is so loved why did he fall to the 3rd? Injuries? Performance? Cocaine?
- TPC

I don't think he fell, he was pretty much lined up as a 2nd or 3rd but deemed most underrated. Probably because of his size. He was ranked in the top 10 International skaters by Central Scouting. Rangers organization seems to weigh Euro players higher than most other teams in drafts.

I saw a lot of Staher bashing for passing on some guy named Kyloging or something. It wasn't directed at Gordie Clark

Sather's managed our assets pretty well IMO, better than most would have. MSL was a mediocre move, but we were forced into that play. You guys wanna keep bashing the Yandle move? Duclair who? How exactly did he do this past season? Last I heard he was a healthy scratch on his junior team. And John Moore, nice waived player there....so basically we got Yandle for nothing and Arizona is paying $2.6M of our cap right now too.
