Etem fits like a glove on a line with Brassard and Zuccarello. On paper at least.
- rangerdanger94

What proof do you even have to make this statement? Etem's been here 10 minutes and he's a top 6 winger after scoring 5 goals? Must have been the best 5 goals ever

His play style reminds me a lot of JT Miller's only he's more a finisher. Hasn't put it together yet but I got faith yo

Kevin Hayes couldn't make Chicago's roster and he's top 6. Let's give the new guy a chance before we paste a label on him.
- DONMURDOCH14

Kevin Hayes never had a chance in Chicago so we don't know that is true. The Hawks needed size and skill so I doubt that is true. Hayes started on our third line. Etem had 2 years in Anaheim, and did nothing. Although the Ducks coach is garbage, so I am willing to give him a chance.

At the end of the day, we dealt Hagelin, who I think we can all agree is a solid NHLer with decent trade value, for Etem. So logically, Etem also has decent trade value. He hasn't produced yet at the NHL so that value comes from his potential/ceiling.

He literally just turned 23. Young as (frank). How old was Kreider when he was getting bounced up and down between the NHL and AHL?

I feel pretty sure of the fact that the Rangers are going to pick up another forward off the UFA scrapheap, as they've had some success in doing that as well. Not sure of who, but there are some guys out there that can help for cheap.

Comeau is a cheap scrappy option, other than that I want Lindberg here and maybe Bourque now has a chance to make it

Nash/Brassard/Zucc
Kreider/Stepan/Miller
Etem/Hayes/Fast
Glass/Moore/Sheppard(if re-signed)

Etem may not make the team right away, need a another top 6 wing, if we want to compete again this year.

Per today's Miami Herald:

Florida was offering a collection of draft picks (believed to be its pair of thirds as well as a fifth) and, according to the New York Post, restricted free agent Jimmy Hayes. Hayes' younger brother Kevin just completed his rookie season with the Rangers.

Jimmy Hayes scored a career-high 19 goals for the Panthers last season.

"We were one of the finalists, it was down to the wire,'' GM Dale Tallon said. "It was obviously between us and Edmonton. There were four or five in the mix and it came down to the two of us. I guess they wanted Cam to play out west so that didn't work in our favor. It just didn't happen.''

Richards adds that Florida viewed Talbot as the heir apparent to Roberto Luongo.

whirlwind done? I D K ... 1st very high upside for the" Rights" to Hags who wants a 1 yr deal for total F A status? .. E E is 21 & big & fast ,may be just coming into his own & gettin out of laid back cali & into churn of N Y hockey ..well i liked it ,saw him late in season to be a factor for Ana. + 41st pick for the right s ?? i'll take it
Loved hags but we saw his best & is 26 & smallish compared to E E .....

Talbot ? i think we tried to manufacture the market, no one fell for it ...did O K & got a solid back up Raanta to grow w/Hank ,needed a change 3rd in depth chart .
Draft ..solid i guess , sum teams like Boston are trying to sell it as if they are drafting starters ..most of the draft dont impact for sum time ... good luck sellin Beantown on the New cubbies truly ..lost alot with no replacements coming back till when in future....

I say this is step 1 for the NHL teams (Draft week).... critical u set up for the rest of the off season by dumping sum salary when u can ,adding sum for critical upgrades ..I dont see Larry Brooks bubble outlook ...

1. Stepon should & will take an escalating contract w/less cap value now for later ..or take the family discount Staal Gman Brass Zucc all have drank from...

2. trading NASH is a real deal.... If not getting the top center instead of the 2 1a centers we have ,then get 3 for 1 and take care of depth ,grit ,P O type scorers....

3 with the D at present ..... they rate #1 hands down + a whole preseason to work as units & explore the best options for 6 d to share the load with out the
overloads that can derail your team...OR we trade 1 or 2 d men (Klein & Boyle)

possible to take sum of Boyles contract from a team who has a hole to fill
Klein could be a top 4 in a teams back line ....

Between now & 7/1 is to be a flurry of deals that will show the direction or perceived needs a team has ....

I see the NYR getting an FA grit type scorer ...... J Ward or J Williams

L G R i like the options & positions we are moving too ..sum BIG Ques.....

trade step in a deal to get top center or trade NAsh for depth & cap room

Hayes center or wing ?
O lindberg ...Gettin a shot ...Bodie Skjel 15-16 season help ?

with goal & back line so strong to start ...we will with injury luck get up to the mountian top..L G R Mac will win Norris ..

So we missed out on Jimmy Hayes because Sather didn't want Talbot in the East?

So do I. Jimmy Hayes is going to be 26 early in the year and has 66 total points in his NHL career. Before last year people would have talked about him in more negative terms than Etem.

Edit: but still, we need another top 6, the risk on Etem is too big, if it doesn't pan out, another year down the drain.

We can't win Jan, I value your opinion, hate that it's taboo to give the Rangers any criticism, the second you post it you get swarmed by "you're always negative"
