I wonder who the Rangers are going to take off the scrapheap this year. Who are the players whose value is down that will sign $1 million type deals, a la Ribiero, Stemniak, etc.

I like it. Unfortunately Boyle isn't going anywhere. Tom jinxed us. - mdw7413
they can still buy him out... that would clear the cap space for Skei or McIlrath... saved money plus their ELC would equal about what Boyle makes now... solves 2 problems... other option is to purposely hurt him and put him on LTIR... any takers?? |

Does anyone have high hopes for Etem like me? AV has a knack for getting more out of guys a previous coach or org couldn't. Being a high pick I mean. I used it before so i will again, he turned Pouliot into 4 mill a year player and Brassard, who sorta underwhelmed in Columbus, into a huge piece for us. I could see Easy E, yea that's my nickname for him, getting 20-25 goals and being a pest in the mold of Kreider getting under teams skin a bit. Really looking forward to him being a regular |

So, with everyone thinking, including Rangers' management, that Lindberg is going to make the jump this year, how does he slot in? Does he play 3rd line center and move Hayes to wing? Does Moore move to a wing, with Lindberg playing the 4th line center? I realize he still has to make the team, but it seems like he is ripe to make the jump, and the Rangers might have to give him the opportunity or trade him if they don't intend to. - Pete V
I think you shift Hayes to wing and put him in the top 6. He's brutal on faceoffs and Lindberg a specialist. So having Lindberg and Moore pivot the 3rd and 4th lines gives us good faceoff men there which is important since those 2 guys start a lot of shifts in our defensive zone. And a shift to wing for Hayes lets him get into the top 6 because he wasn't going to center the top 2 lines over Stepan or Brassard. |

You giys hate advanced stats, but he was pretty darn good last year. Like Parenteay, SHT% way down. If you could get Semin or PA at around $1-1.5 mil, would be a very nice addition |

I'm so confident Etem will score 25 goals that I bet 2 tickets to a Rangers Isles game in the 2016-17 season with a retarded isles fan |

for $1M i would take that chance... still HIGH HIGH skill, 0 work ethic and character, but GREAT skill. a 3rd or 4th line goal scorer would be nice.
I still think we need a 2nd line winger assuming lines are;
Nash-Brass - Zucc
Kreider - Steps - ???
Etem - Hayes - Miller
Glass( ) - Moore - ?? |

I am actually really optimistic about Etem. Don't get me wrong, all else being equal, I would much prefer to have Hags back, but I think Etem at half of Hag's likely salary (or even less), will give the team good production. Obviously, this is just a projection, because he hasn't shown it yet, but I think Etem is a good emerging young player, who I wouldn't be surprised to see put up 15 goals, 30-35 points next year.

Since Boyle's contract is an over-35 deal, the full cap hit stays on the books no matter what we do unless we trade him. |
