I understand the trade of Talbot. Sather waited to long ad to give up a draft pick to get a 2nd and 3rd when he had an offer two 2nds a few days before.
Unless Emerson Etem comes in and clones his game after Chris Kreider than the the the Rangers lose the trade in the short term. Long term obviously it's a question mark.
Remember when the Rangers drafted in 2014 and 2013 and we as almost as whole we excited because we got kids with high ceilings in Duclair, Tambellini, Buchnevich, Halversson and Shestyorkin? They did the exact opposite this draft. The pick that might leave me with a sour taste in may mouth is Ryan Gropp. Talk is now that he might leave the WHL Thunderbirds to go to North Dakota. Meaning he thinks his own game isn't up to par with one of the best amertuer development leagues in NA. Can't believe they passed on Harkins, Greenway Chlapik, Andersson and Kylington(twice). - tomburton99
He can't go there on a scholarship , so he'd have to pay or Seattle will pay . One year service in the whl you get one year of collage payed for , or something like that |

Talbot is nothing more than an unproven backup goaltender who thrived behind the best defense in the league. Oilers got ran in this trade and Talbot will be lit up like a Christmas tree behind the Oiler's porous defense. Waste of picks. - rangerdanger94 your tune sure did change quickly!!
and thank god we didn't give you the first for him in that case!!! |

I think for anyone to question who we took and who we didn't is kind of silly. Scouts know better then us and probably more then any TSN, TV or Twitter analyst. We ways draft well after rd 1 and pull out guys like Hagelin, stepan, Fast, etc. The initial reaction yesterday is what left a sour taste in my mouth. The hagelin trade is one thing but to go over the edge about who we drafted or didn't, really is silly. I see Sather should be crucifed year after year and now he should be hung basically, and the fact is the team turned a huge corner a long time ago and he still gets 0 credit for any of it by his haters. Teams would kill for a ten year run like we have had.

Etem has size, thought you would be loving the trade
But yea I am with the group. lets give the prospects at least 2-3 years of development before we say they suck, will never make it, or made a bad draft decision. After the top 10-15 picks, it really is a crapshoot |

We love busting your chops on him, but we would all love for him to make the team and make a difference. Better happen this year |

I don't get it, if they feared he might be offer sheeted, wouldn't they have gotten more value back in that then a 1st, and 2 2nd round picks? |

i love the Okafor pick, but its bittersweet
it does make me think Embiid is headed for surgery, which kills me because he was my guy going into that draft. All things being equal healthwise, i think Embiid > Okafor
again, i love the pick, but it sucks because i was really hoping to get a glimpse of the future of this team, but picking Okafor has just created more questions.
im still fully on board with Hinkie though |

Yea I am with you, Embiid has me really excited. I don't know in a perfect world, all 3 of Noel, Embiid, Okafor play this year and split the 48 mins between center and power forward.
Okafor's post game reminds me a lot of Tim Duncan. His hands and post moves are top notch. Hopefully he can improve the defense. Sixers might have a franchise player on their hands. |

I think Okafor will be a franchise player and would work well with Noel
but i also think Embiid could be a franchise player and would fit with Noel
keeping and playing all 3 is fine by me, but if all are healthy they wont really like that longterm.

With the Blues rumored to be shopping Oshie and Rangers supposedly shopping Nash, what would it take for a NYR/Blues deal including those 2 pieces?
Shwartz and Oshie for Nash? |

again my personal preference is Embiid > Okafor
but there's no way you can even consider moving Okafor until Embiid shows he can play injury free over the long haul.

Fair deal for both sides?
Zucc-Brass-Schwartz
Krieder-Stepan-Oshie
Etem-Hayes-Miller

I like that lineup. |

Ducks GM Bob Murray said that the trade for Carl Hagelin kind of “popped up” on Friday when he asked Glen Sather “what he was doing.” (Ducks)
The Ducks and Rangers had tables next to each other at the draft and while Murray and Sather were talking Sather mentioned Hagelin’s name and Murray’s “ears perked up a little bit.”
He said that parts of the deal were worked on during the first round on Friday and “we managed to get it done” on Saturday.
Murray said that Hagelin’s speed and tenacity is what the Ducks needed. He added that because Hagelin has arbitration rights, he will be signed one way or the other.” - rangerdanger94
I forgot to comment on this earlier but if Sather was serious about trading Hagelin why not let that known to all 30 teams? I am sure he could have created a little bidding war for her services. This quote makes it seems like he just kind of like "O we are thinking of moving Hagelin" and traded him to the first team who was interested. |

Don't know about that. Schwartz is a great two way player but he likely won't sniff 40 goals once in his life. |
