whats funny is we all forgot they signed another RHD this summer. Nakladal
very likely Wideman could be moved now.
top 4 of gio, brodie, rusell, hamilton. Then with a 5/6 of possibly Wideman, schlemko, England, Nakladal, Wotherspoon, Smid, and I could see morrison being ready for some games
and thats 4 rhd in our 5/6 spot....thats some pieces that can be moved to get a RW - numbear
Don't count on Nakladal making the roster. If he does it's a bonus but most guys who come over need at least a little time in the minors. |

What is there to do with Smid, LTIR?
I would still like to see one of Schlemko or Diaz back as insurance. |

true, but that means no pressure on spoon and Morrison
And allows schlemko to maybe get some time
I would rather any of those over diaz.

Very true so who is looking for an older D-man at the moment? I wonder if there's a trade that could be done for Skinner? I know he a LW but we need a guy like that too. - Yeah...Baby

I can't see Fleury being available. Rutherford loves him & when he resigned him declared him the goalie of the future. Actually I think the discussions with Pitt aren't about Hudler. I think Pitt is in big time for Kessell. That means they would have to move something to make room. Would Kunitz fit the bill on that 2nd line with Bennett? Would give Pitt some cap flexibility to acquire Kessell. Maybe some young pieces Calgary have for Kunitz could be flipped to Toronto in a Kessell deal. Leafs want prospects. - Kevin R
Kunitz could be a solid pickup, but I don't see giving up more than a B prospect. He's 35 and could be flipped at the trade deadline, but we'll probably need him for the playoffs. What's his term and salary?
What about resigning Glencross? Did he where out his welcome here, would he accept the role?

Kunitz? Seriously? You remember here he wouldn't have Crosby right? |

At least the flames have learned from the Avs of last year....looking like history might not repeat (painful to say but quite possibly true) |

I don't see a need to move anyone at this point, not even Wideman. Add Frolik, make an offer to Ramo, if it isn't accepted (market for need shrunk this weekend putting Calgary at an advantage) let him walk and roll with Hiller/ortio. Trade Wideman only if it nets back something younger, otherwise, roll with what is there. This is a team that should be better with a healthy Gio, a full year of Bennett and maybe even Poirier cracking the team.
I just wish May Ray wasnt there. Maybe a buyout? He is taking up valuable space - FLflames34
Maybe we can dump him on Boston?
But seriously maybe a deal could be worked out for us to dump Raymond and take the Savard contract in return for like a 5th or 6th? Even if we had to retain some salary it'd be worth it. |

Amazing moves by the Flames. I love a lot of the players on this team.
I'm cheering for a renewed Battle of Alberta, it could be great the way the Flames and Oilers are looking. |

If we can fix up our defense more then yes it could very well be the beginning of the renewed battle of alberta....growing up and watching the first one was great I hope it happens again |

hope not. he's rene bourque 2.0. flashes of the chippy player we need....just flashes. the again only other option is stafford...is that a better fit?
I'd prefer they grab a solid 4th liner like richardson. He's the right degree of gritty and effort.
or maybe Ward or Williams? Just gives the young guys time and they can play those 3rd line gritty minutes without being just thugs. ANA series showed that a bit more push back would be nice to have. Like the young guys grow into their bodies and let some old guys take the bruising for a bit longer.
it will all come to gather, just in time for iggy to pull a lanny and ride into the finals on the young guys coatails

Todd Cordell: Draft Review: Flames Prioritize Defensemen, Upside At 2015 Draft - ToddCordellCGY
more than that I think is has shown Trevling is very happy with the chemistry and talent level of the existing roster.
Everyone should notice how rather than disturb the existing group BT chose to forgo a couple draft picks. Great choice IMO.
If trades are indeed made BT will likely trade true spare parts like Byron, maybe Jones, Smid, Raymond and maybe AHLers like Agistino and/or Hanowski.
I think BT will wait until training camp to determine some other spare parts amongst Granlund, Jooris, Shore, Poirier, Colbvore, Ferland, Rienhart, Bollig, Wotherspoon, and Sieloff. |

It sure seems like it is going, that would be amazing for hockey. I'd like to see all the Canadian team rivalries back in the playoffs, it's the best. Get the Nordiques back in the mix too. |

Ya that BOA is about to start up again, will be fun to watch. i think the canucks are on the way out for a few years until they realize theyre doing what calgary did for the last decade and stop bandaid fixing a team to play with their old stars....jumpstart your rebuild guys, trade the sedins now.
Rather have seattle then the nordiques. And vegas.....wtf

What is Philadephia's looking for? Would Simmonds be available? I think they are already full of overpriced aging Defense, so not sure if Wideman would be useful for them.

The more I look at it the more it makes sense if you can't add Frolik or Williams for 3-4 yr deals via free agency then just stand pat and give Colburne, Ferland, and other young players an opportunity to grow into that role.
Why lose pieces that may be needed later when you could have that player ready to step up. |

I have to agree. The more confidence and strength that Colborne adds the better he plays. And I really want to see what Ferland will do staying with the team. Put he and Colborne with Bennett on the third line and see what they turn into. |
