Nash is a pretty good two way player as well and doesn't play with Kane and Toews. Overall is playoff numbers are pretty good. I don't necessarily agree that we should be trading for him but the argument that he's declining after he just put up 42 goals doesn't make any sense. - Sabresfan-365
Once again, nobody said he is going to fall off a cliff next year. My point is that he doesn't fit our schedule.

Yea and in three years Nash hits the open market and goes to the team closest to winning the cup. Maybe us but maybe not us. Its a risk. I don't expect us to be a cup contender till maybe his final year of his contract. That's a big risk. And it would take Ennis, +, +. I would obviously trade ennis straight up. I'm not that much of a homer - Smittyx36
That's the whole point of this...a poster said he wouldn't do it straight up... |

he's not going to trade a first round pick for Rick Nash I like Rick Nash and yes I know he's an all-star but he would probably most likely trade the first round pick for a young and upcoming superstar |

20. At least. And yes, it's worth it. - buffalofan19
And the year after that?
Then Year 3 we are cup contenders, Nash is 34 and you believe he is still out performing Tyler Ennis at almost half of Nash's Contract? |

Nash at 34 will have more value than Ennis does. And I'm a huge Ennis fan.
Nash is a lethal goal scoring 200 ft playing power forward. There aren't many like him - sbroads24
Would love to see a line of Moulson Reinhart Nash |

Hossa never won a cup when he was expected to be the best forward on his team, Nash has never been on a team where he wasn't expected to he the best forward. Replace Nash in Hossa ' s situation and the results are the same - sbroads24
When was he ever on a team when he was expected to be the best? Pitts? No. Detroit? No. Ottawa? No. Atlanta? Maybe.
I'd take Hossa over Nash everyday of the week. |

Even if he declines at the rapid pace that you are suggesting, he still outperforms most of the Sabres' top 6. |

The value in 3 years isn't there. I fully expect Ennis to be in the 30's at that point. |

Right, which is why you pay a guy like Hossa 5 mill and not a guy like Nash 7.8 mill. Your point is still accurate - you need guys to be "the guy". Nash will never be that guy. - Slump Buster
The single reason Hossa makes a little over 5 mil is because of cap circumvention. He would have got 7 or 8 mil if he would have only been able to sign for 7 years |

Look, I don't want to bag on the guy, but Tyler Ennis has 7 seasons under his belt, and is an undersized player with a career high of 21 goals. It's quite a lofty goal to expect him to score 30 consistently, even with a better supporting cast. |

[quote=Mentalorgasm5]Not sure what his point is, but I definitely rather have Nash on this team than Ennis.
With the adds we have done, if they could trade Ennis, Foligno, a 2nd and a prospect for Nash. I am all in.
Good God........I wouldn't trade Ennis straight up for Nash, let alone give up Foligno and a 2nd
I'm not suggesting that Rich Nash isn't or wasn't a nice strong point producing player.
I would MUCH rather have Ennis at 28 yrs Old PrimeTime than Rich Nash at 33yrs old when we really make a run in two years, shoot maybe we pick him up at Trade Deadline day after we've won the Presidents Trophy and we throw NY a 2nd rounder and say F*&ck You NY we're the Buffalo Sabres and we're going for the CUP!!!
- MEBSabresFAN
Amen to that brother.
Somehow, I prefer to have Ennis as well. |

I don't take it as you bagging on him at all. It really is just a difference in forecasting. I see Ennis as a guy that will slot in nicely on my second line and provide nice scoring at a reasonable salary. I don't see Nash as a top-line winger on a cup team. Nash is clearly an excellent player... he just doesn't fit our schedule/makeup |

Ok so even though Ennis was only 45 pts behind Nash during their first 5 seasons, has almost Double the Cap, Ennis plays Wing or Center, Tenacity, and was thee leading scorer on one of the LOWEST scoring teams in NHL history. None of these factors seem to matter to anyone.
Do you not think Tyler Ennis would have Scored more points if he had been on that Rangers Team than he did on this Sabres Team?? Come on take of the Goggles |

How is it irrelevant? His contract is actually worth more in actual dollars than Nash's... In today's NHL Hossa never signs for 5 mil a year.
Same with Keith |
