Yikes Ennis and a first now? So we go after guys like ROR and Kane because they are going into there prime and now suddenly we are trading ennis "top 6 forward" and a first for Nash. Maybe if we are near the top of the league at trade deadline we do that. That kind of move is something a team that is looking for the final piece does. Maybe we get him as a rental in his final year and run with that into the playoffs. But right now? No way i'd do that.

Thats my point, exactly. It isn't about Nash vs Ennis its about the Age/Cap with Ennis just entering his prime and playing on a team with actual Wingers and a Real Coach!

Ennis will score 60+ pts next year at 4.6

By the way, thats a grand total of 11 more pts this coming year, yeah I think he can

I wish EK had a bet system through this site, I'd put a 1000 down that he doesnt put up 60+ points next year.

I do think Ennis can be a 50-60 point player. But the fact is, right now he's a 40 point player. Time will tell how high his ceiling really is.

His stats have been stunted these past two years by the Sabres historically bad offense, but the two years prior he played at a 50 point pace had he not been injured/the lockout shortened season

His stats have been stunted by his skill set.

You can't deny that had he been on a better team, his stats these last two years would have been better

Yes I can, that arguement is always said about players on bad teams. But then you see them leave, or get traded and they still produce at the same level. I remember when Jokien and Boumeester left the panthers their stats were suppose to improve. When Nash left Columbus he was suppose to jump to a 90-100 point guy since he put up 70-80 points there. Seldom do you see a players stats jump when the talent changes.

Yes to Ennis. No to Nash. Bigger priority is getting a decent left handed d-man before the season starts.

Good night all.....

It is really too bad murray couldnt get in on hamilton at that price. He had to have called right?

What an incredible thought haha

- ieetbred

I thought about that too
But from what I read, Boston wanted to ship him out West. There were even eastern conference teams that were upset BC they didn't know he was available.

But good god...
Imagine this defense for the next 10-15years!

Hamilton-Ristolainen
Zadorov-Bogosian
McCabe-Pysyk

I could win the Vezina playing goal with that defense!

Than you dont watch enough hockey.
- Mentalorgasm5

I wouldn't trade Ennis for Nash straight up either
They'll put up similar stats next year
And Ennis will cost about half what Nash does

We can't afford a team of All-Stars anyways

So Nash would wave his no trade clause to go to Buffalo? Lively debate though.

Maybe you should hold off on calling it a fleecing until we can see what Lehner can do in aa number 1 role. I wasn't thrilled about trading a first rounder for a goalie, but I'm giving the guy a chance before I poo poo on him. He is extremley young for a goalie still and has not been given a chance yet to show what he has in a starting role.
- Cheeseballin

But if you can't trash the trade NOW, how are you ever going to throw out "I told you so!" later?

(this goes for any/all moves, btw - not picking on who you wrote to)

It always seems to be about "See, I called it when ____ happened" and wallowing in the depths more than just remaining a fan.

So:

Kane ROR Ennis
Moulson Eichel Oshie
Girgensons Reinhart Gionta
McGinn Legwand Larsson

- Stripes77

Swap those bottom 2 lines around:

McGinn-Reinhart-Girgensons
Deslauriers-Legwand-Larsson

1) You don't pay a 2nd line winger 7.8

2) He doesn't fit our schedule

How much is Kane about to make??

Anyone who is saying 'Lack only got them this' or 'Talbot only brought in that' and saying Murray overpaid needs to realize that Lehner is the only one of all the goalies traded that has multiple years left on his deal PLUS an RFA year. Just like at the deadline, players moved with term draw a bigger return.

Yea on the flip side if Lehner is a disaster then the term becomes a burden and not a positive.

There were a lot of goalies available this year. I know he has a ton of faith in Lehner but I saw red flags when Ottawa resigned Hammond and went after O'Connor. Most of us said we would take the chance on Lehner for a 3rd rounder.

Not necessarily. Johnson is only under contract for this year, so if Lehner does become a disaster, you bring someone else in during the offseason and push Lehner to the backup role.
